That's cool. 8) Who knows, since I'm getting an Ampeg, maybe I'll get the Ampeg SVT-212AV to go with it. I highly doubt that, because of $$$. That would be a cool cab to use, though.

Paul, that's an excellent cab. It's 4 ohms, and rated at 600 watts. I don't know though if you want to run the PF800 4 ohms into a 4 ohms 600 watt cab. The SVT-410HLF would handle up to 1,000 watts Peak. It's a 4 ohms cab as well, with 500 watts RMS. That's one of the main reasons I went with the Bassman 800, over the Bassman 500. At 8 ohms like the HD210, it's rated at 500 watts RMS. The head is 500 watts @ 8 ohms. A perfect match on that. I can't swing getting a Bassman 500, and a 4 ohm cab to get the 500 watts out of it. I'm really thinking the HD210 will do great with the Bassman 800. I love those 10" HyDrive speakers in that compact cab.

Yeah, I think if I were able to go with an Ampeg cab, I might look into the Portaflex models, so I could attach the head to the top of it and store it inside. I think that's an interesting concept. It would be either the 15" cab, which is 400 watts and 8 ohms, the same as the head, or the 4 x 10" cab, which I don't know what the rating is on. I have to look. I do believe they also make a single 12" cab, as well in that series. I have to look again.

It does seem like the Bassman matches up with the Hartke cab quite well. 8)

The Portaflex series is a very makes sense design to say the least. The ability to keep you head, and cab together, while concealing the head from view. But at least your PF800 is able to be carried in a shoulder bag. Without a Roadie working your gear, that would be my idea of the safest way to keep track of one of the most important items of the gear.

On paper anyway, it does appear to be a matched pair. The 15" cab seems to be the same if you were to go with that also.

I went ahead and looked at the Portaflex series of cabs, and they do have a 12" cab, but I also noticed the only cabs in the series that feature the removable flip top with the head are the 15" and the 2 x 10" speaker configurations. Not even the 4 x 10" cab has that feature. I suppose that makes sense, since that would be a large cab, and not compact enough to utilize that design. I noticed the cabs that do are slightly taller to have space to fit the amp inside, but they still are on the compact side. I looked at the specs on the 12" cab, at it's a couple of inches smaller all around, so it's probably not big enough to be able to fit the amp. They'd have to make it the same size, which would be kind of odd considering the size of the speaker. Another thing, the 12" speaker is only rated at 200 watts, so it's probably intended (unless you stack it with another cab) for something like that PF350 head, or those all tube 20 or 50 watt jobs. That would be good for a small room, or studio situation, not banging out with that 500 or 800 models.

Depending on the power specs of the 1X15, or the 2X10, I would think either one could be great with the PF800 head. One of the best sounding bass Marshalls I had was a MB210C, a 210 combo. 450 Watts @ 4 ohms, and 300 watts @ 8 ohms.

The Portaflex 15" in 400 watts and the 2 x 10" cab is 450 watts, which isn't too shabby for dual 10"s. I remember you talking about the Marshall. It's a shame that you had an issue with it, and then they stopped making bass stuff altogether, at least for now. Of course, you could still go "old school" and plug a regular Marshall head into a bass cab and get nasty with it.

Those Marshalls had a sound that wouldn't quit. But in all honesty, the were made cheap.

That's a shame, really. I guess the reason that they haven't bothered with bass stuff, is Eden bass amps are part of the same company, and their website is combined together these days (I just looked.) You ever play through any Eden gear? They've been around a long time, but I don't recall playing through any. I have played through some SWR stuff in music shops, as far as that bass specialty type gear goes. Gallien Krueger, too.

No, I never played any Eden amps. Gallien Krueger I really like. I was tempted to do one of the RB 800 heads, but the flap going around is they are having problems with GK stuff failing, and GK not honoring their warranties. There must be something to it, because Sam Ash has dropped GK products. GK was a good moving product at their stores for a long time. I'm feeling good about going back to a Fender Bassman. Especially since from what I can see, they worked out the issues with the early Bassman 500's.

Paul, how do you like the Rumble 410 you have now? I've been thinking about trying out one in comparison to the HD210. It peaks out at a 1,000 watts, and 500 watts RMS @ 8 ohms. That's a stout flippin' 410 cab. That would be a possible good 500 watts head to 500 watts 8 ohm cab match up.

You know, I was looking around the web a while back, and I had noticed something about that with the GK stuff. Maybe we were also talking about it, as well. I know they raised the prices on some if not all of their amps. I wonder what's going on there? They were the top of the line back in the day. The 800 RB was one classic workhorse that they quit making a few years ago. I've used it a few times, and thought it was great.

It's actually a decent cab. It's not too heavy for it's size, and puts out pretty good power. It's loaded with Eminence speakers, which is what I think are also in the Ampeg cabs, so if you like that brand, then it should be OK. I got it pretty cheap, and haven't had any complaints with it so far. It works.

I'm seriously contemplating going for one when I can. If you know me, that's pretty much saying, I'm going to get one.

Yeah, I know how that goes. :P AMS just had one discounted not that long ago, but I just checked, and it looks like they sold it.
