I use the Polytune 2 mini most of the time. The Polytune Clip I think is as accurate as the Polytune 2 mini. With both being based on the same TC Electronics, they are maybe somewhat of a clone to each other. I know this is goofy, but the only thing I have on not being crazy using a clip tuner on the Gibson heads, the possibility of scratching, or messing up the finish on the head. I forgot to mention, I changed out the bell adjustment rod cover on the head. It came with a plain Black cover. I had a an extra SG stamped cover, so I changed it out.

I see your point with that tuner possibly scratching the headstock. I didn't think about that, and that should be something to consider. I generally like to avoid beating up my basses as much as possible, and keeping them pristine. Used instruments that are already beat up wouldn't matter, since you know what you get if you get them.

That's cool with the lettering on the cover. I left the cover off my violin bass, in case I needed to adjust the truss rod, and those tiny screws make me nervous to where they'd might get stripped out. You can't really notice the fact it's not on there, anyway.

I didn't have too much of a problem with the Fender heads for not showing any possible scratches, but this black, and the Mother of Pearl may scratch, so use the Polytune 2 mini.

The SG stamped cover I did get for the SG Walnut, was I think the last one showing pretty much on eBay. I couldn't locate any locally either.

At least you were able to go one. I know what you mean with that Gibson headstock. That might be more susceptible to scratches and things like that.

The Black is a veneer with the Gibson name, and Holly in it. It's glued to the head, then glossed over. Image

I'm back to where I got my start with. Funny showing Gibson on a Fender site. Image

I don't think anyone even comes around this thread, anyway. Besides, you're plugging it into a Bassman 500, so it's sort of related, topic wise. :P

A Fender stool is about the only thing I use, other than the Bassman 500 that's a Fender now.

I think I have seven pieces of gear that is Fender related, and some lunchbox my girlfriend got a few years ago to use to put stuff like makeup in. We have three Fender amps (Rumble 350 combo, 1982 Super Champ, and a Passport Mini,) three Squier instruments (Vintage Modified Precision Bass PJ, Telecaster Custom, and Jazz Bass,) and a Fender Precision Bass Lyte. That's all I can think of that is related to that.

There was an old Fender bass combo practice amp that my girlfriend had way before I knew her, that might still be in some closet somewhere in the house, but it developed a bad farting buzz in it when you play through it. I used to use it years ago to practice through, but then that happened and I stopped using it, and actually kind of forgot about it until just thinking about it now. If it's still around, maybe I can have it looked at, possibly fixed, if worth it. Have it as some little beater amp to mess around with, maybe in the living room, or whatever. Sometimes, I like to play while I'm watching TV to keep in practice.
