Gallien Kruger seems to make pretty good stuff. I've used one of their 800RB heads a few times, and I really liked that thing. They quit making it, though.

It also has the tube preamp in it, like the Orange does, as well. Headphone input is one thing that I wish the Orange had. I wouldn't have needed the MXR preamp if it came with one. That way I could have used it with the cab being muted to record with it's DI out, and just hear everything though the studio headphones.

The GK MB Fusion 500 seems to be a complete package for Ampeg. It also has a headphone jack. I think it can be played without a load to it. If so, that would be handy enough to use in another room with just headphones, and no cab.

That's a handy feature, to be able to use the head without any cabs. Unfortunately, I couldn't do that with the Orange head.

I think it is able to power up load free. I'm going to call GK to find out about that.

I found it in the GKMB manual in the cab out to loads. Acceptable one 4 ohm, two 8 ohm, and no load. So that would mean, unplug it from the cab take it into another room, plug into the wall with headphones in, power up and play.

That's cool that you can do that with that amp. The only head that I've heard about that also has that feature was those TC Electronic 500 and 800 watt heads, but of course that doesn't mean there aren't others that can do that. By the way, did you ever come across those TC Electronic heads at all in your music store adventures? I just remember reading about them and watching a few demos when they came out. I'm assuming that they still make them.

Yes, I used a TC Electronics RH 450 head. That head was able to run with no load also. Sweetwater has them as a special order only. That means no returns, and they don't pay the shipping.

AMS use to have those TC Electronic heads like that. They weren't special order there, with free shipping, not that it matters anymore, anyway.

TCE was bought out by Behringer ? Or some one like that I think.

I think I heard about that, as well. That sort of thing happens all of the time. Look at all of the companies Fender bought out. TC Electronics is still going, so if they did get bought out, at least they didn't get mothballed.

TCE Is probably in better financial shape than Sunn was. TCE is I guess still in the market place of demand. Sunn was a somewhat specialized large venue amp to really get it roaring. They were made to well.

TC Electronics does make all kinds of stuff, like effects, besides amps, so I'm sure that gives them an advantage, where that's concerned. I still think Sunn could have had a viable place on the market. There's a bunch of boutique amp makers that make similar things that have managed to move along. Maybe Fender didn't want the competition and mothballed it.

Fender got what they wanted from Sunn's 300 watt tube head. I have two TC Electronic tuners. A Polytune 2 mini, and a Polytune Clip. I like these two TC Electronic tuners. They work.

How do you like those clip on tuners? Do they work as good as a regular plug in, or pedal type tuner? I have an old Boss tuner with the analog needle, but I can see where the clip on would really be totally convenient.
