That's probably a advantage of the Hartke Aluminum base speakers. The aluminum may take less to get it moving than paper, and a bit quicker, and responsive. I was just never able to get the deeper sounds from the aluminum at the lower volumes I play at.

So you think it was a similar issue that I had with the 18" speaker at low volume, where you needed to crank it for it to sound where you want it?

I really do. Every 18 I've heard, didn't sound as well on lower volumes, as it did cranking up. That's a huge, big damn speaker with a lot of material to get moving, to project the sounds from it.
If you get a chance, listen to Mark Andes in Spirit, on the "Twelve Dreams Of Dr. Sardonicus" album, the song "When I Touch You" He used an Acoustic 360 / 361 with a kickin' 18". They were like Blue Cheer back then in concert, and in the studio. LOUD!!!

That's true, especially when it also has a high power rating, I think.

Yes! The more power you can push through it, the more sounds you'll get from it.

Now, with new technology, you have things going on from the other end of the spectrum. Tiny 5" speakers, like the Phil Jones stuff, that puts out a lot of bass. You should hear those little, Blue Tooth speakers that you can use with your iPhone, and what not, and totally portable. They sound like you're carrying around some huge boombox, I kid you not. As much as I like the big speakers, I have to admit I find that intriguing, especially the portability aspect of it.

Yeah, I can see where that would be mighty handy, too. NYC is a prime example, where it can be difficult hauling huge cabs around, depending on the parking situation, etc.

Large cities can be a real pain, unless you back up to a freight dock to unload, and or load.

Especially, that place. We were lucky the last time we gigged there, because there was a parking garage right next door to the club.

You were fortunate it worked out that way. I was spoiled as a Roadie. The majority of the places I worked were substantial enough to have loading docks.

Well, considering who you worked for, they were past playing in tiny clubs. Although, I've heard that the Stones did or still like to do that before a tour. I imagine it would have to be clandestine, otherwise the place would probably get overrun with people trying to get in.

Mega Arenas, and Halls can definitely a blessing overall, as compared what I first stated out doing.

In the Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Miami area. Anything size wise from a bar, club, outdoor events, to getting into medium halls, and up from there.
