The Sears Silvertone amps were separate channels. They were made by Vox I believe.

Yeah, I've noticed a lot of amps, especially from the 60's had that feature. I guess back then, everyone plugged into one amp, including an accordion player, with the handy dandy accordion input jack. :P I guess accordion jacks were more for the 50's and early 60's amps. You weren't Road Rexing much with accordion players in the band, back in the day, were you? :P

No, electric pianos, and Vox Continental Organs took the place of accordions. At one time the Vox Continental Organ was probably the most used organ used in the 60's, into the 70's. The Hammond B3 gained more popularity, and sounded great with Leslie cabinets.

Speaking of Vox Continentals, did you see that Vox has made a new version of one? It looks and sounds pretty cool, but I think they want $2000 for it, which is steep for me, not that I can really play the friggin' thing to begin with. My girlfriend can, though.

No,........ I haven't seen the new one, but I plunked around on a few back then, and didn't do to bad on it.

Yeah, they're pretty cool. Out of curiosity, I looked to see if there were any vintage ones on eBay, and there were a couple of them, but they want at least $2700 for one. There was a Vox Jaguar organ for $1599 + $225 shipping, but I'm not even sure what the differences are with the two. I haven't done any research about that, and I don't have the cash for them, anyway. It's still a cool thing to look at, I think.

The Vox Jaguar was a combo organ. 49 Keys, 4 octave economy version of the Continental. The Vox Continental's were everywhere back then. It was a better organ all around. The Continental had a special jack for bass notes, to be played through a bass amp. The Jaguar's just were cheaper made for Garage Bands, small parties, etc., not heavier Arena Style, Hall road shows.

OK. I had a feeling that was the case with those. It probably wouldn't have been $1200 cheaper, or so, if it weren't the case. You know, I used to have this Multivox keyboard that had a bass jack like that. You pulled this knob and the lower keys played bass notes that were separated from the higher keys. The keyboard wasn't anything major, just a small one with about 5 sounds, like electric piano, or organ, plus the bass keys. It's one of those late 70's/early 80's jobs I got for $100 at the time, but it was pretty cool. I wish I still had it.

There were others, but the Vox Continental was the top shelf of it's kind.

Like anything else, I guess. Here today, gone tomorrow, but sometimes come back again in some other form, but never exactly the same.

Very true, or close to it. Look at the Fender Bassman heads. Fender copied the Sunn head, trashed SUNN, and today has the Bassman 100T, Super Bassman, Bassman 500, and the Bassman 800. Other than the SUNN gone, the one tried to be a rebirth, was the big Acoustic. That was a true Arena, Hall, stage amp.

As much as I liked the Super Bassman, I'm getting great Fender head sounds from the Bassman 500. This Bassman 500 really is something. I don't worry about tube issues, 17 pounds in place of 65 pounds, and at about half the price. Higher watts too, 350 @ 8 ohms, and 500 @ 4 ohms.

Yeah, all that remains is memories and a reference site, as far as Sunn goes. Since there is an interest in old stuff from back in the day (look at the vinyl resurgence,) it's a shame that the Sunn name is in limbo. They could sell it to someone and perhaps something could come of it. They've done it with other brands, so why not?
