I haven't really gone there in ages, though. I guess I couldn't be arsed. :P

The Bassman 500 / 410 Neo is sounding good.

You decided to keep the Bassman 500, instead of getting the 300 tube, then?

I was able to audition a Bassman 500 on top of a Bassman Pro 115 Neo yesterday, and was highly impressed to say the least. I also did an A/B comparison with the Rumble 200 1x15 combo in a kind of head-to-head shootout between the Chinese manufactured Eminence ceramic-ferrite driven 15" woofer and the made in U.S.A. Eminence 15" Neodymium driver. The Bassman Pro 115 was more accurate and articulate with a more natural sound that was full; open, and airy. The Rumble's 15 was warmer; rounder and more vintage sounding with excellent tone. It's no small wonder why people love them so much. Especially at $400 vs $1,450 for the Bassman rig. There is one bass player on TalkBass that has a Bassman 500 on top of a pair of Rumble 115 cabinets as he likes the vintage tone better than the Neo. Also Rumble 115's are $300 a piece so you can get two for the price on one Bassman Pro 115. This comparison really confirmed that Fender's Rumble series of combos; heads, and cabinets are truly professional grade equipment as far as tone and overall sound quality are concerned.

Speaking of Rumble, I'm hoping that my Orange head will sell, so I can buy a Rumble 500 combo. The 36.5 pound weight is a huge deciding factor. My Rumble 350 combo is 65 pounds and I feel that trying to go up and down stairs, which I have to do if I'm going to do a show. I would try and sell that for the money, but I'd get more for the Orange, since it did cost $1049 new. If it doesn't sell, then I'll stick with both of them and maybe somehow, someday I'll be able to get a Rumble 500.

That would be a good move to work on selling the Orange.

I turned in the Bassman 500 loaner head, and got in my Bassman 500 head from Fender. The new Bassman 500 sounds better than the loaner did, playing the same Jazz through it, and through the same Bassman 410 Neo. Settings on the head were set the same. The new head has a definite Super Bassman tube sound to it. It covers the full range of tones, with a clear, and full sound. The 410 Neo has a better overall sound to it than the 115 Neo I played through. This is a superior setup.

Sounds pretty cool. 8) That head has two tubes in the preamp, anyway. You could get some good tube tones with that, I think. That's what the Orange head has, and I've gotten that tone with that.

The preamp tubes really work.

I wonder when you would have to change them, though?

I guess it's like most tubes, depending on how hard you push them.

That's true. I guess they go when they go.

If they're good out of the box, they should run for a good bit of time.

No bites on the amp for sale, so it might look like I won't be getting a Rumble 500 in the near future. It's OK, I still have my old one, even though it's a $@!&* to haul up and down stairs. :P

You haven't had the Orange on the Market to long, have you? It still may sell.
