Purchased my first bass, a used Fender Am Std P Bass, two months ago. Now looking for a used amp, sticking with Fender. It looks like either of these would suit my needs, playing at home, hobby. Any thoughts on my choices? I know I am looking at more wattage than I need, but I only want to do this once.

If the condition and prices are the same, then Bassman 250. The solid state Bassman were very very good amps, as are the Fender Rumbles. A used Fender Rumble 150 in very good to excellent condition should be going for $150-$175, and the Bassman 250 sould be in that same ballpark up to say $200. A new Fender Rumble 200 combo is $400, and they are killer! Don't overpay for used gear.

I used Guitar Center as a price guide so here's a used Fender Bassman 250 2x10 combo reported to be in "Great" condition for $230. I'm sure they'd take a $200 offer.

And here's a Fender Rumble 150 reported to be in "Excellent" condition for $200.

I have a bassman 250 but with the eminence 15. Great Amp, Just gigged with it on the 4th. Either one sounds good, I would go for the bassman 250 due to the extra 100 watts. I have several Fender Combo amps from 50-350 watts to cover anything out there. get the 250. you can always turn down, but hard to turn up when its maxxed out, or its up loud enough it sounds fuzzy and you want it clean

I've used both, had a Bassman 250/210 for around 10 years and gigged with it. I'd rate it a solid amp with a decent modern sound (it has a horn in there too, along with the 2 X 10") and I used it in some fairly large rooms. Given the added head room when compared to the Rumble 150, I'd take the Bassman if the price is nearly the same.

The EQ is fairly useful and you can unplug the internal speakers if you want to use a 2 X 12 or 1 X 15 down the road. Not sure about the Rumble 150 (since it's been a while) in that aspect.
