:?: :!:  :( I just purchased this head Feb 2014 and LOVE the tones I get out of it but I think I may be having a automatic bias issue or I could be using the amp incorrectly. I read the manual and I think I am powering it on the way it says.

I engage the power and the green lights begin to scroll. The manual says to wait at least a minute before engaging the standby switch. I usually wait about 2/3 minutes to be on the safe side. It doesn't matter how long I wait the lights continue to scroll until I take it out of standby and begin to play.

The problem I am having is that from time to time I notice my volume go down some and I look in the back and the lights are all red. Its as if the tubes are failing while I am playing. About half of the time the amp is normal and the lights are solid green. I thought maybe the tubes were going out in it so I bought some new tubes and installed them but this is still happening. So far I am able to power the amp off. Power it back on. Wait a minute or 2 then take it out of standby and the amp is normal for the rest of practice/show. Whatever the case may be. The amp has yet to stop a show thanks to the autobias so kudos for that. But if there is a potential issue I want to know.

Do fender techs frequent these forums? I was hoping to try and at least be sure it's not an ID-10-T error before looking into a warranty repair. I am a working musicians and cannot really afford to be without it.

Just in case. I play the head hooked up to Ampeg Classic 6x10 4ohms and a Rick 4003 bass.

I have heard of this malady before, but don't recall what actual fix was. You had best call Fender Consumer Relations at 480-596-7195, and they'll be able to tell you what needs to be done. Sounds like a trip to an authorized Fender Service Center to me.

There was a bit of a problem with the 100T's auto bias. Some limited problems were on some of the Super Bassman, but from what I was told, the 100T's were more prone with auto bias issues. Like Linnin said, give Fender a call.

Thanks guys,

I contacted fender and they suggested I take it in for a "Warranty Checkup" to see if there is a problem.

I've heard of some having a problem with the tube fuses. These are the tiny fuses on the underside instead of on the back panel. The problem with these is that sometimes they don't have any visible sign of being blown. (there isn't a whole lot of glass there) If one of these fuses goes. It will give the autobias a false bad tube reading. Which then triggers it to depower it's match and cut the power of your head from 100 to 50 Watts. I love my 100T, but I loved my 1974 100 too and it never tried to do my thinking for me. :? It's like modern vehicles. I love my new Jeep Wrangler, but there are days where I think I'd rather have my old 83 CJ7 back so I could do more than just change the oil and check the differential fluid. I think Fender might have been better served skipping the autobias on the bass amps and simply adding the line out features. Leave the high tech nonsense for the lazy guitar players. Good luck!

thanks..

That actually makes a lot of sense and sounds like what could be happening. The amp is in the shop right now for a warranty repair. We will see what they guy says when he is done with it.

That almost makes to much sense. I never looked into the issue, but that does sound about right for the newer tube Bassman heads. To many extra toy settings. Image
