Can you describe the tone (flat) compared to other amps?

You need to go try one out for yourself, isteen!

I will do that, some time next week. Unfortunately shops within an hour or two by car, might not have Fender combo' in stock

Yeah, I hear ya, isteen. I drove about 125 miles each way to a Guitar Center in Richmond, Virginia. All they had was a Rumble 40 and a 100. I am glad I got to play through them even though the store was crowded and noisy. Best of luck to you with your Fender Rumble quest.

Thanks linnin :D
The harder the work is, the sweeter the reward feels in the end.
I'm sure a Rumble 500 sounding great with a Sansamp Bassdriver in front of it.

Cheers from Denmark

isteen, I don't think you will be disappointed. I own a Rumble 75 and a 350 combo. I also own a Traynor TB25. I have not been disappointed by any of my amps. And what I have experienced with the Rumble 500 combo, it is worth the money (just wish I had the extra right now to go ahead and get it). Being able to describe the tone is kind of subjective and hard to describe, everyone hears things differently and has their preference to what it should sound like.

I have G.A.S. for a Rumble 500 combo......lol

I was able to look at the Rumble 200 combo today and I can tell you its a light piece. It specs at 34 and a half pounds. That according to Fender as per their website. It says the cabinet is heavier and weighs 39 pounds. Why would the cabinet weigh more then the combo?

Drove an hour to try out the 500, but the only had the 15" version (the 200?) in stock.
Sounded good, but I'll just have to wait a bit to check out the sound from the 500 watt.

 Here's a link to a very positive review of the Fender Rumble 200 head and Rumble 115 cabinet in the 2014 Winter edition of Bass Gear Magazine.

Also there is a short reply from Fender's principal engineer, Dave Lewis, on page 105.
http://btpub.boyd-printing.com/publication/?i=232774&p=105

Here's the text:

Dave Lewis, Principal Engineer, Fender Musical Instruments.

"We appreciate the acknowledgement of our efforts for the redesigned Rumble V3 series. Obviously, improving the value and performance, while reducing overall weight at such low price points, was a major challenge that we set for ourselves. As such, certain features were omitted that might be expected on more expensive models, like a mute switch or "clip" LED, neither of which existed on the previous Rumble V2 series. Our overall gain structure and power amp limiter make the signal less likely to clip for typical basses at moderate Gain/Master settings, and having the newly developed Vintage and Overdrive features (that add some level of clipping or distortion to the signal) tend to negate the immediate need for such a "clip" indicator. The V3 Overdrive feature is a multi-stage analog circuit that emulates the transfer characteristic of cascaded tube gain stages, and we feel it offers a very usable range of distorted tones that are preferred to some other manufacturers' offerings, but we also understand that distortion is a subjective thing and may not appeal to every player.

The signal present at the XLR Line Out being "post- Master" is a continuation of the feature as found on the V2 series (which only had a single Volume knob, not Gain and Master) that offers an accurate representation of the preamp signal driving the speaker and contained all preamp EQ/tone adjustments including OD, etc. While this is a useful feature as it stands, we recognize that some customers may prefer an XLR Line Out signal that was unaffected by any preamp controls (or at least not the Master vol.), as found in more expensive products and dedicated DI boxes. Lastly, we specify reliable high current rated W" speaker jacks for both the 200/500 heads and as extension jacks on the 200/500 combos for consistency in production across the models.

From your comments and other comments read online, it appears people are taking notice of what we've done with the Rumble V3 series and giving them serious consideration. It is becoming more and more clear that as technology improves, the expectation of performance/ features is filtering down to lower price points. We welcome the feedback to help improve our products and make them better align with the tone and performance needs of the bass community.
" ~ quoted from page 105 of the 2014 Winter edition of Bass Gear Magazine

Yeah, I knew you were going to mention the new goodies here sooner or later. If not, I was since I got the newsletter yesterday. :P

Yeah, I was watching the demos earlier with those new basses. It sounds pretty good. Although, I'm not so certain about the fact the standard Dimension bass doesn't have that triple coil humbucker like the original model did, but costs an extra 80 bucks. I thought that was the cool feature about that bass.
