Yeah, I like the new layout (like the old one, too so it's all good to me) and the new features. The old overdrive was nice (not something I use a lot, though) but I like how they added the new set up for it.

That's funny, until recently I didn't even realise that the 350 combo was made with MDF (didn't pay attention, I guess) and I actually found the amp to be quite light weight in comparison to older amps I've had which were plywood. If the new ones are plywood and that's supposed to be lighter, then that's even better, at least where that's concerned. As far as tonality, I've had no qualms with my current amp and I've never been in a situation where I'd compared the properties of both materials. To me, if it sounds good, it sounds good, so that's up to others to debate.

I'm thinking if I get a new amplifier for what ever reason, it will be most likely the 500 combo and the 15" cab as an extension, if needed. The reason for this is I like the convenience of a combo amp, and with the ability to add a speaker, it would be like a stack, anyhow. That would be an ideal set up and with the power to back it up, if needed.

You put a very mischievous idea into my head with this post.

I hope it goes away.

What is that? I assume it's nothing like my idea of a cab made out of paper mache in the likeness of Richard Nixon's head in DayGlo psychedelic colors? :P

Notice the fabulous tone, and the fact he's not playing loud at all. You can clearly hear folks chatting at normal conversational volumes and not yelling to be heard.

Anyone have info on the magnetic feature? How does that work?

Assuming it makes it harder to pull a Rumble head off a Rumble cab. Light weight heads are too easily jerked off the cab, so that's a good innovation. Kudos to whoever thought that up.

Still missing the built in tuner present in competitor models, even being as inaccurate as they are they are better than no tuner. I like the classic cosmetics, but as was said already there was little wrong with the cosmetics before. Plywood is better than MDF for sure.

It's really cool. There's a pretty powerful magnet under the tolex on each cab. It really holds the head very firmly with the feet anchored into four recessed cups in the cabs' top. They came out with this feature in 2011 I think when the heads were introduced. My Rumble 350 & Rumble 112 cabs have this valuable and unique nifty-keen feature.

Nothing beats a dedicated pedal tuner. The Rumble's not having one keeps costs low.

Plywood is lighter and more expensive, but not necessarily better. MDF's void free non-resonant density makes it ideal for bass cabinents. My Rumble 75 is a perfect example of the superioity of MDF construction.

I totally disagree with you on MDF. Do real world road work with MDF cabs, and wood cabs. You may not like the MDF after really taking the road abuses. My opinion, from an old Roadie.

Well, at least they finally made it official on the site. What sucks is I just bought a new amp two years ago from them and now they have this, not knocking what I have (it's great.) I'll be honest and say the 500 combo is more to what I'd want for specs, because of the design (I can't help it, I just always liked the old school silver grill for Fender amps) and the ability to finally have a 15" with the set up. That would be like having your cake and eating it, for me. I use to run a 2x10" cab and a 15" cab when I had my old stack. It was my "sound," although I will admit the 2x10" speakers in the Rumble are pretty damned good on their own. I guess they're just tuned differently and can handle the low end a lot better than my old 2x10" cab could by itself back in the day.

The one thing I'm wondering about is the top handle on the 500 combo. The 350 had side handles, but from looking at the new one, it looks taller instead of wider. Perhaps that is why they did that. The side handles on the 350 made it pretty easy to carry (I didn't find it that heavy, anyway,) although you would have to watch your hands going through doorways, sometimes. I wonder if the top handle will wind up being more of a pain in the $@!? If not, I guess it would make hauling it and your bass in one trip easier, because you could have one in each hand.

Good post Linin I agree the with all the pros you mentioned in your last post,... The Rumble 500 Combo with 8 ohm Speakers cabinets is indeed a serious gig rig,....... I dare anyone over at TalkBass to still concider The Rumble an entry level amp.. :) & thanks for the Marcus Miller clip.

HaHa  James, I am The Fender Rumble Evangelist over there much to the chagrin of the Ampeg faithful. Also the Fender Rumble Club has over 90 members so far, and other Rumble owners are begining to step forward with their real world bass players testimonies. So positive changes are slowly begining to take place. :) Fender bashing of all types is still a sport there, but anti-Rumble hate speech is waning a tad. 8)

I agree,.... I've read nothing but good reviews on The (2010-2013) Rumble Series
& I can't wait to read post Naam reviews on the 2014 Rumble amps, & though I'm not a fan of Made in China amps, The Rumble & Bronco 40 are very rugged,.......(I wish I could say the same about made in China Ampeg's,...) I'm guessing the new Rumbles will still be made in China :) Hey Linin how do you like the Vintage Hot Rod 60's P-Bass that was used in the Rumble demo for ZZ sounds? I really liked what I heard from both the bass & amp... :)

They are actually made in the Indonesian factory, from what I saw in some of the photos. Of course, that doesn't mean much, since the original Rumble was Chinese and I never had any issues, but the Squier Bass VI I had to return was Indonesian-made. Hopefully, they won't have the same people doing quality control with these like they have with the Squier stuff. Eesh. :P

Anyway, I'm liking what I'm seeing with these. Now to convince the other half (I do have the strong advantage of playing music with her, though) that we should get one of these. :P Actually, it is good to have an extra amp on hand, especially for gigging an we could use another amp for the Schecter Ultra VI (which she'll be playing mostly, anyway.) Soooo....
