I have been practicing through a Super Champ X2 head (15 watts) running into a Rumble 2X8 cabinet for a little while now. The sound was pretty good; however I knew that if I were to play out sometime in the future I would need something larger (more wattage).
I eventually found a "deal" on eBay for a Rumble 350. I thought that would certainly do the trick so I bought it. Unfortunately I didn't buy it through an authorized dealer. Shame on me! When it arrived I tried it out only to find that, when played through the same Rumble 2X8 cabinet, it wasn't any louder than the Super Champ! I know that the Rumble 350 (370 watts) should be fed into a 4 ohm load but I would think that even connected to an 8 ohm load it should produce about 170 watts. When I contacted the person that sold me the Rumble 350 he gave me some crazy explanation about a 4:1 ratio sound reproduction. Can someone please explain to me how in the world a 15 watt tube amp can compete with a 350 watt transistor amp......

 According to the Fender Rumble 350 amp schematic you have 221 watts @ 8 ohms at 100Hz, and 222 watts at 1KHz.

Dude, you've been had. You've got Counterfeit Crap.

Buy New From An Authorized Fender Dealer. That's the only way that you can be absolutely sure that you are getting what you are paying for.

Too bad. The 350 may be the best bass amp in its humble price range. I am very happy with mine. The average gigging, or not, bass player has a truly outstanding amp in the Rumble 350. Class D is the best thing that ever happened to bass amplification IMO. This speaks to SS only.

The whole Rumble series is good, I am focusing on the flagship. :D

Linnin, Thanks for the reply. I know I've been had, just don't know what to do about it.

I have the combo version and that thing cranks pretty good. Obviously, either repeating about the counterfeit claim and who knows what you got, or there's something seriously wrong with your amp not to put out any power in comparison to that Super Champ. I have a Super Champ from 1982 with an EV Force 10 speaker in it and as loud as that amp gets, it doesn't drown out my Rumble 350. Either way, that sucks that you got a bum deal on it.

Perhaps if it's cost effective, you could have an amp technician look at it, but it probably won't be worth it. Things like this are the reason I avoid eBay like the plague. If I were to buy anything used, I'd either do it in person where I can go over it, or use Amazon.com where at least I have some return guarantee through them.
