True enough, Mr. Nylon. All the Rumble combos & cabs are all naked. Yes, the sonic/acoustic engineers did design the cabs & specifiy the drivers with that in mind.

Actually it was when I played mine at high volume {1/2 - 2/3rds} that the true beauty of the sonic barrier shined on through.

Can't wait for my new 12" Eminence Neo woofer to arrive! Heh heh heh {rubs hands together with anticipatory glee} :D

That should be a great speaker in your Rumble. I applaud your decision to go for it.

It's Here! It's Here!

Out with the old and in with the new! :D

Sounds Super Fantastic!

Really Sooooo Much Better! Lovely Lows that are clean; clear, and articulate. Finely foucused and well defined low mids that are solid; punchy, and meaty. Very smooth mids - again clean; clear, and articulate. High mids and low highs are both very lively and quite spanky. Really nice bark can be had up there if your bass is dialed in like that. As good as the Fender Special Design drivers are, the Eminence Neos are far and away much better sounding woofers.

It's a bit more efficient and is a bit louder at all volume levels. I've only turned it up to half volume just to test it out, and man alive what great tone! The Eminence BassLite LOVED it - just eating it up and asking for more. I'm going to do exactly that soon!

Well that's really good to know about this. Just swapping out a speaker can make a huge difference in sound, sometimes. That's cool it worked out. 8)

Oh Yes! I've read some glowing reports of great results putting S2010's in the Rumble 350 combo :)

That could be a possible option in the future. Right now, I'm leaving everything alone until either the warranty expires, or I wind up with another amp and this one is used for back up.

Cool. 8)

So is it a major improvement over the original sound?

Very much so. Across the entire bass frequency spectrum. Bigger; Fuller, More Solid Sound. The tone is simply broadened, and not really changed. The amount of purcussive attack is most definitely increased in the best possible way. Definition & Clarity are increased right across the board.

For example: My Jazz bass' growl & snarl seemed to increase, but it was there all along and now I can hear much more of it more clearly than ever before. :D

The biggest improvement is in purcussive attack. My much modified '76 Precision is a pure assault bass in it's present form with GHS Precision Flats. I've never heard any bass with this much attack. My newly modified Rumble 75 pumps out the attack much like a mallet striking a well tuned drum head. I have to give the Sonic Barrier a lot of credit for the well focused tightness of the sound. I could never get that much punch before let alone as solid as a body blow from heavyweight boxing champ.

Wow, that sounds like one hell of an improvement! That's cool that it wound up working out in that way. I recall you had some issues at first. Good thing it worked out in the end. It's something to keep in mind for future reference, if I or someone else might want to attempt a similar modification on an amp.

Congrats on the new 12. What you basically did, was make your Rumble 75, into the discontinued Bassman 150 Combo. (minus a few watts) Greats sounds! Good move on the change out. Image
