There's an additional softness in the tone that seems easier to achieve with the bigger speakers...but there's so much amp variety now. Haven't tried them all.

A 15' combo(or 2) is enough for me. My 160 up halfway can keep up with a 100w tube amp and cab.

I've always had pretty decent luck with either a 15" or 2x15" cab. I've also ran a 15" and 2x10" set up. The only time I really had an issue was when I wasn't using a Peavey amp to go with it. They just have had the ability to cut through any situation for me.
