I can't agree with tone being as subjective as some may say. The better players know what good tone is. That's part of the reason they're the better players...

Some people are tube freaks. You'll never convince them a $500 solid state bass combo amp is good enough for them, even if it actually is. Tube heads are power stations, but a booger to maintain and over the past 20 years have become more and more unreliable. Amp companies used to over-engineer everything, but that isn't the case so much anymore and even the tubes aren't as durable as they were 20 or 30 years ago.

I always thought it was something how 100 year old technology costs more to make than something modern. I suppose the materials at hand for it are more expensive, who knows?

True enough bd, and you'll never convince the haters/bashers, snobs either, but you can always influence the open minded and counter lies with truth!

I've always thought it was a good thing to do your own research and try things out for yourself before jumping on some bandwagon. I always felt that because something has mass appeal that it might not necessarily be right for you. I never understood the point of bashing something either, because it doesn't fit in your ideal box, too. There is no reason these amps should get any hate, unless the person had such a bad experience with it (total failure, exploding into bits, etc) and were screwed out of a lot of money because of it. That would deserve some wrath, not because it doesn't have a little glass vial glowing inside of it.

Actually, I have yet to watch it, but heard a little about it. There was a story recently how when one of the guys on the show was in NYC and staying at a hotel, he came in looking for the restroom and they thought he was homeless or something and sent him down the street.

But the Rumble series doesn't suit their 32 string imported from Italy
