I'm planning on upgrading to a better bass amp, and I've been thinking about the 350. I'm going to be joining the church band soon, so I need a good, gig worthy amp. I've already tried it out, and it seems loud by itself, but that isn't necessarily a sign that it'll be loud in the mix.

I actually have some doubt about the 350. Some people I've asked say to get the rumble 150, as it has a 15 in speaker, and it'll therefore be better in the mix. Others say to get the 350, because it has more power, and THAT'LL make it better in the mix, even though it has 2 tens.

I'm kind of stuck now. Is there a definite answer to whether or not the rumble 350 is good for gigging? The church band I want to join has one loud guitarist, a drummer, three vocals, and a bassist. (Hopefully they'll accept one more, I've seen it done before.)

extra question: Would a normal, 6-string guitar sound good through a Rumble 350? Not that I need it to, I'm just wondering because my blues jr doesn't have enough headroom for my style of music.

A Rumble 350 will put the fear of God in any church. Totally gig worthy. Two 10" woofers move 1/3rd more air than a single 15" woofer. Even if you aren't using the 350 watts for volume, you have more than twice as much bass headroom for tone than a 150. Tens have more punch than fifteens. An excellent alternative is the Rumble 350 head coupled with two of the single 12" Rumble NEO cabs. That'll blow both combos right out of the Baptismal Pool and have the entire cogregation speaking in tongues! Glory Hallelujah!

Just wondering, do you own the rumble 350 and speak from experience?

Don't own one, no, but do speak from experience! I own the lowly Rumble 75. It suits my needs. But there are plenty of Rumble 350 owners with lots of bass experience here to help with any specific questions you might have. You may have to seek them out.

Alright, thanks for the advice once again everyone. :)

I have another question: Which one is louder, a Fender bassman 250, or a rumble 350? If the rumble 350 is louder, I'm in luck, because the bassman 250 can apparently be heard against even the loudest drummers!

Are you referring to the discontinued Bassman 250 combo ?
I used to have a Bassman150 combo with 1x 12" speaker & it was loud so I'm sure the 250 is even louder,.... The Rumble 350 head & 350 combo are even louder & are a lot of bang for the buck,.....I don't own one, I've only jammed with one in the store,...it's a nice reliable head,..... & from what I've heard most guys using the Rumble 350 don't even put the volume past 3 or 4 & drummers have no problem hearing the bass. Do you know where to get a Bassman 250? if not go with The Rumble 350 as it's currently available at most music stores & for the band situation that you're in, playing church halls & small to medium venues
the Rumble 350 is more than enough amp to handle the job... :) actually both amps would handle the job..& to answer your question the 350 is louder..

I'd say it is. This is why I bought my 350. I don't know too much about the Bassman 250's, but if you were to get a Rumble 350, now's a good time because of the rebate. $50 off.

Yes good point CPL I forgot about the rebate.....& another bonus would be that you'd have a new amp with a 1 yr warraty.

Five Year Fender Warranty. Four Hundred-Fifty Smackers - Shipped! That's a great deal for such a superb sounding and powerful combo.

I'd love to have the head with a couple of the 1 X 12" Neo cabs, but that's $1,250.

Yeah, hopefully I won't have to use that warranty. I made sure I kept the receipt in a good place, just in case.

I never used that kind of set up, but I think that would be a nice rig with the 2 12's. It's almost old school, since they had with a 2x12" cab, I think at one point.

That's right the first Bassman head was 'piggy-backed' on top of a 2 X 12 cab. This may have been Fender's first amp head, but I'm not sure.

Today's 12" woofers are excellent sounding speakers. I know I like mine in my Rumble 75.

 Some other considerations are combo vs head and various Rumble cabs.
To move the most air; fill large rooms, and attain maximum volume the Rumble 350 head with 410 cab is king. If weight makes no difference to you. The combo is about 64 pounds. The head is 5.6, and the 410 is 76 pounds which is actually pretty good considering the MDF cab material. The speakers in each are identical Fender Special Design 10's. If cost is your primary cosideration then the combo wins hands down. However the head is also sale priced at $350 at most e-tailers. That's just a buck-a-watt. The 410 can be had for $300, which is very inexpensive for such great sound quality. That's only a $200 difference between the combo and the stack. The head is certainly flexable in it's speaker cab options. The combo is not. You have two 10's and that's it.

Weight is a consideration for me. I simply cannot lift a 410 cab up and down steps or load into and out of a vehicle by myself anymore. The Rumble NEO cabs are great. the 112 is just 24 pounds and the 2 X 8 cab is 28. So full stack with head is 57.6 pounds or 6.4 pounds lighter than the combo, but WAY more expensive at about $1,150 right now. The NEO cabs are seriously great sounding units. If I were still giging this is the way I would go with two of the 112 cabs.
