Yep, that sounds logical. Thanks.

Still loving my Jazz Bass, linnin. It feels so good. Also recently put a Rickenbacker toaster and horseshoe pups in my 4001. I've got Sgt. Pepper tones galore. That's my Beatle-y bass that I love maybe just a tad more than my JB.

Linnin,

I've noticed that when I turn the bridge pup down on the JB, I lose a bit of bass. It doesn't become thin or anything bad. Maybe it's not bass, but rather fullness I'm losing?

Yes that's right. Never shut either p'up down totally. Always leave it cracked open just enough to tell. I've also found it's never good to run them both wide open. Always have them backed off just a tiny tad. One slightly more than the other. Plus it depends whether you are picking; plucking, slapping, or thumbing and where in relation to the p'ups.

Maybe we should start up a Jazz Bass P'up Volume & Tone thread. I have some very nice settings I'd be willing to share.

Very good rule of thumb with a two pups bass set up. 8) I keep my bass guitar settings lower, and use higher settings on the amp head also.

What's happening is the humbucking effect of the 2 out of phase windings on the Jazz pickups engaging when both controls are up. The reverse windings make for bigger lows and helps with hum cancellation also. At least that is the case on a single coil Jazz. not so much on Noiseless ones.

Well, whatever it is, I personally do not like it. So I never run either p'up wide open and never wide open together. together. {echo}

As for the amp, if under warranty take it to a Fender authorized service center.

If not under warranty you WILL need the part number unless you want to freelance/wildcat/hot-rod some jump lead solution with a standard Switchcraft jack. PCB mounted jacks are really terrible with a short life span and I might try to figure out some sort of freelance solution with the Switchcraft.

To get the part number for the original jack, you'll probably have to at least contact a service center. You can try contacting Fender Consumer Relations to request a schematic/parts list for it. If you explain you are out of warranty and just want the jack part number from the parts list you might get it. However they don't publish amp diagrams online for safety reasons.

You may reach the FMIC Consumer Relations Department by mail at:
