A few weeks ago, I tripped on a cable and tore it off inside the amp To get the broken piece out of the jack, I slid the guts out, and rather than an open jack, it had a little box. To get the broken piece out, I had to lift up on little metal pieces.

I got the fragment out, but now the jack doesn't hold the cable end strongly. It's very easy to pull it out of the amp.

I've tried to bend the metal pieces tighter, but it seems impossible.

I can deal with it in my bedroom, but if I gig with it, there may be a problem. Any suggestions?

Locate the proper part number and order a replacement. Those unitized jacks are cheaply made and generally non-repairable.

Thanks. I was hoping for another solution, but maybe that's it.

I've been searching high and low for the Fender part that would replace it, and Fender doesn't have it on their site. I've also looked at Allparts and other internet dealers.

Do you know where I can find the part number? Or do you know of part that you are certain will replace the original?

Thanks to all.

Oh! I forgot you're still under the 5 year warranty. Fender should fix it for free :)

Oh man, that is gorgeous. I want a Precision too, but it'll be a while. Great story to go along with it.

I'll be around a little more often.

Thanks Chicken House! You be sure to do that! There's little wonder that a man by the name of "Chicken House Willie" would play a Fender Electric Bass Guitar & rock a Fender Rumble 350 Combo. He's a good bassman, that 'Chicken House'. Yep, a good man. 8)

Thanks, Linnin. I may be joining a band soon as a bassist. I was playing in a band that imploded--everybody but me was mad at everyone else, and the band was no more. I felt like a lone survivor of a plane crash.

I always wondered what that "ch" represented.

Apparently my humble beginnings can be traced to a chicken house late at night. I come by the name naturally.

Linnin,

I've noticed that when I turn the bridge pup down on the JB, I lose a bit of bass. It doesn't become thin or anything bad. Maybe it's not bass, but rather fullness I'm losing?

I think what your bridge pup is doing before it's cut back, it's giving a bit of volume, and power, helping to push the bass tone from the neck pup. Giving it a bit more of the full sound. A bit of treble isn't bad for bringing out a bit of the highs, and still getting the heavy bottoms.
