Speaking about its bass amps. I was unable to find a single mention of anyone using the TBP-1 preamp. WTF happened with what looks to be a very good, if overpriced, amp? One if the new crown, class D amps, a mix of good cabs with this preamp sounds like it could be heavenly. Was this a complete dud? Just playing with the two 12ax7's alone could provide fun. JJ's, Tung-Sol, NOS.

Watcha got BrotherDave? :D

Good Question Modwiz I was thinking the same thing when I started this thread the TBP-1 Preamp did look to be very good as did the whole Pro series line up.

I just picked up a Rumble 410. Its heavy and its cumbersome but unless it sucks tonight at the gig, I'm keeping it. I don't have to use it exclusively either. I still own two RS210 Cabs that I can use.

The thing I can't figure out is this. I bought it on 'clearance' from Sam Ash. I still paid $299, which is what its being sold online for. I asked, but I was told that that was the selling price. Shouldn't it have sold for less...? On clearance?

Who knows why Sam Ash labels things the way they do. The same cab is still listed on Fender's site so I don't think it is going anywhere. Maybe it will be replaced by a "neo" model?

Let us know how it works out for you at the gig tonight. I'm lovin' mine with the 350 head. And it sounds great with the '69 Bassman head.

I wouldn't be suprized if the Rumble 4x10 shows up with NEO speakers at some point.
This cabinet is also going for $299.00 on Long & McQuade's Website here in Canada.

The Fender TBA-1 is a very-very-very high end professional preamp. TBA stands for "Tube Bass Preamp" which as you mentioned can be fed into something like the Fender TB-1200 or for that matter any power amp like Crown or QSC. It also is a good recording preamp and good to have in a pro studio.

While the TDP-1 is a great unit for players looking for a separate preamp and it is certainly very well made, I've been moving away from tubes for the past 10 years and can't see myself ever going back to tubes again. I have exactly ONE piece of tube gear left and not sure I'm keeping it much longer either. I want a small, light, powerful and reliable combo with a variety of tones without having to change tubes to get different tones.

I know from experience when you get into component rigs that weight has a way of snowballing. I've been there. With a 13 lb preamp preamp you must have the obligatory 40 lb power amp, and while at it you might as well add a 9 lb rack tuner, 8 lb Compressor, 10 lb Graphic EQ and then of course you need a 10 lb power conditioner to protect it all plus about 10 lbs in cabling. Now that 8 lb preamp that seemed like such a good idea lives in a rack weighing what seems like 120 lbs. I'm moving in another direction. I'm sure for some players it is just the thing though.

I have the Rumble 150 combo and I have to say that it is one fine amp! A fantastic sounding amp and really solidly built! I have used Ampeg stacks, Fender stacks and GK stacks. This little amp is fantastic. Tons of power and honestly having the ability to turn the horn on or off and the direct out is a fantastic option! I have to say that fender really did a great job with this line. I am using it exclusively from now on for both gigs and studio work.

Yes the larger and more powerful Rumbles are for the money really good buys. The heads while relatively low powered are light and just as tone rich as the larger combos. The Rumble 350 combo is absolutely awesome. Too heavy for my needs but totally amazing to hear. Very complex and rich in tone.

I want something small, light and powerful.
