So guitar center accepted the broken bassman 100t amp, and sent me a replacement.

The replacement came with none of the hang tags, twice the amount of extra fuses, the power switch on and the standby switch off, all the front controls set to 10 - a total disaster. Even the box - the first one I bought was a box that was taped up, this one had metal staples to keep the box shut. I plugged it in assuming everything was set to off, and shot juice into a totally maxxed out system. Ridiculous. The automatic bias system LEDs were like a light show from a disco. 72 hours later, the channel switch failed. Two lemons in a row. It costs too much money to have to deal with this, their "Pro Series" amplifiers made in Mexico...

I want to bring this thing to Arizona and let them deal with this, as I am driving to Las Vegas next week, but I don't know how well I will be received. I need more than my old 1972 Bassman 70, but I am seriously considering Ampeg at this point in time. I professionally play every other day, and I need something more reliable, especially for the money I am spending.

I'll keep you guys informed as to my progress...

The upside to this is not feeling bad about not being able to afford one. Rumble owners seem well pleased. Bronco, owners as well.

I feel a disturbance in the force too.

I know brother, we do it for the tubes...

But I am about to jettison this crap ASAP...

You're Rumble owner and it sounds great? That's nothing but good news for you and your fans...

Bronco owner. Sorry to hear of your frustrations. Bad products (poor QC) are a sign of the times, (greed) and the signs are depressing.

Tubes aren't worth it, but to each his own.

I agree. They don't make tubes like they used to. All the new tubes are a failure waiting to happen.

Ironically, if you have a tube from about 30 years ago, it will last you the rest of your life.

Hi warnergt; Totally agree with you about older tube amps lasting.
I'm using a TC Electronic RH450 head that has a Tube Tone setting on it. You can adjust the depth of the tube tone you want. I worked with the old tube monsters 40+ years ago, the RH450 has the tube sound, the power, light weight, works without being plugged into a cab, and no tubes to fail. If was using an Ampeg SVT head, it would out weigh the cab it would sit on by about eight pounds. The Ampeg SVT weighs in at about 93 pounds. The TC E RH450, about 8.8 pounds.

My Rumble 350 head is 5.5 lb.

If I want reliable, I have the old 69 Bassman. Not really made for an arena, but still sounds great.

rwindmann, the Ampeg lovers aren't all that gushing about the Asian made Ampeg stuff either.

When production gets moved out of the U.S., some companies do it very well, and some...

G&L got rave reviews for the quality of their import Tributes (as compared to the quality of most other company's import lines), but then, G&L gets about twice as much for their import line as most companies do.

I had a Bassman 100 from the 60's with the 4 X 12 acoustically coupled speaker cabinet. Great tone but a back breaker to move.

The transformers in that thing weighed more than a modern 500 watt head. It is a shame that the 100T of modern times isn't as sturdy as the old ones...especially for the price.

+1

My silverface Bassman 135 head weighs close to 55 pounds......solid tone and virtually bulletproof.
