Hi Folks,
I built a Sunn 2-15 folded horn clone via plans from Conrad.
I have a 67' SF bassman that I installed all new PS Spragues, all 3 new Mercury Mag transformers and did the bias mod.
I planned on the bassman to use for playing the cab. Okay at a volume of maybe 4 on the amp it sounded okay but once I turned up my bass or the amp to about 6 the speakers began a very ugly blapping sound. Contacted Conrad and was told the older Emience 15's wouldn't work in the cab, was also told by other folks that I had an air leak, blablabla!
As it turned out there was no air leak and the speakers I replaced with 2 new Legends.
Hooked up the bassman and the same awful sound. Next I was told to switch back to the
original transformers. I did one at a time and each time the same awful sound.
So next I took my 72' SVT and hooked it up to the cab and walla...it was beautiful sweet bass. No blapping!
Here is my question...Should I connect the bassman to only 20-25 watt speakers? It's only a 40-50 watt amp. I have Winged C 6L6's in it.
Could to powerful wattage speakers be the problem causing the amp to go into clipping?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks folks!

Have you tried connecting the Bassman to a different cabinet to ascertain that it's not the amp itself in distress?
