Hi...I have a Fender Bassman 100 amp and I am wondering if this can be hooked up to a speaker cab? I see there is a jack in the back to the speaker that can be unplugged, but can you plug in a speaker cabinet to it? I know the watts and the ohms have to match, but I need a little information from the people out there who know. Thanks in advance.

Yes you can. I believe it's a 4 ohm speaker set up. I don't own the amp (although, I almost bought one years ago) but I remember reading about and seeing them around. You can't run the internal speaker and another cab, though. I believe it was made to run full power.

Thanks BassPaul. Thats what I thought. I figured that unplugging the speaker cable will disable the speaker in the combo and if I run a cable to a compatible speaker cabinet, the head part of the combo will work just like a single head. Is this correct?

That's right. You can use a 4 ohm or greater cab but not with the built in 4 ohm speaker. It will then function as an amp head and the internal speaker will be dead. Why not just get a head? They are smaller and lighter than lugging the combo. But yeah you can do what you asked.

May I ask why are you looking to use an external cab? Is the internal speaker dead? Seeing as the combo doesn't have the ability to chain. You won't really be able to do much but change configuration. (ie: swap the 15 for 10's or 12's depending on what you're working with stock)
