Yeah, unfortunately I made a lot of bad decisions when it came to gear when I was younger. Amps, guitars, and whatever else. Doing things on impulse seems to always come back and bite you on the behind. It's too bad you don't gain the wisdom you often acquire when you are 40 to when you are in your 20's. I guess that's what makes us human, though. From what I understood, that bass died a horrible death after I traded it to someone I knew back then. He threw it though the ceiling of a club he was playing at and destroyed the neck. At least I was never stupid enough to do something like that. I took care of my gear. If you are going to smash something, at least do it somewhere noteworthy and have some sort of fame. Not jam night at some crap bar in the middle of nowhere in front of nobody. The guy was a tool, anyway. What a waste of a good Fender.

Yes, at least I got the Rumble 350, which I will hold onto. Hopefully, it won't die on me. That would suck.

Close enough to a year old to call it that. My Fender Rumble 75 is still sounding great. Not one single problem to report. It sees very nearly daily use, with some days being multiple sessions. I'd guess I've got some 400+ hours on it. Admittedly leading an easy going existence rarely pushed beyond half volume, seldom moved. Never giged. Still, it meets all my bass amp needs and exceeds all my sonic expectations.

Therefore Fender's Rumble 75 Remains

Highly Recommended

:D

That's great to hear! Hopefully my 350 version will do the same, otherwise I'll probably be on here with some expletives instead of praise. :P

I almost walked out of Guitar Center with one of these today. Plugged in a Schecter Omen, and it sounded awesome. Overdrive was just as the OP described!! It added that tubey warmth that really sounds good.

Still kinda wish I'd bought it, but it was too big and unweildy for my b'room. I just got rid of my Peavey Max112, because it was taking the place over ( and I was just not getting on with the sound...). I ended up buying a MarkBass Micromark 1x8 combo. 80 LOUD watts, and it's tiny- appx 11" cube- but sounds huge. Also has speaker ( 8 ohm min) and XLR outs.

I have the Rumble 15, and it makes for a nice portable practice amp. Sounds really nice, but it runs out of headroom fast. I love how this series of amps is built like a tank. I figure to keep this around for something to take to lessons and such.

pyroman, you sound like a young man that truely needs a jamable/gigable bass amp, which is to say a Fender Rumble 150 or 350. No not a "b'room" amp.

I wish you the very best of luck in your future. Stay Hard. Play Loud.

Lol- I'm a 43 year old "kid". I have no illusions of playing out anytime soon- I'm simply not that good. So jamming out in my bedroom, sounding good playing badly is what I do.

I live in an apartment in an old 1830's building, so keeping the volume, and wall shaking rumble to a reasonable level is a necessity. Don't get me wrong- I'd love a big ol bass monster- I just can't use it. I don't relish the thought of lugging it up my staircase either- my knees aren't what they were...

I can't say I blame you, there. At least amps these days are a little less heavy than even back when we were in our 20's (you are only 2 years older than me.) I have the Rumble 350, not necessarily because I'm playing loud, but just in case I have to be. It's really not that heavy, considering it's horsepower and compared to older amps. I have a Peavey Basic 60 that seems to be just as heavy and that's 50 or 60 watts.

The thing about playing is the more you do it, the better you get. It should be about having fun, anyway. It doesn't matter if you play out or not, as long as you enjoy what you do. Although, it can be fun as hell to do so.

I agree with that. But, this lil guy can put out an AMAZING amount of power, and volume. I need to be careful that the volume doesn't "accidentally" creep up whilst playing. I'm of the school that the bass should be FELT, not just heard. Maybe someday I'll be able to get a house wayyy away from any neighbors.

I of course had to crank it- just once- to see what it would do in my place. The floor was vibrating, and I could feel the sound in my bones. It'll definitely get obnoxiously loud.

I know what you mean. That's why I kind of feel naked when I play guitar. I don't have that low end backing me up. If you want to talk low end, I once played through a 2x18" and 2x10" cabinet powered by a Gallien Krueger 400 watt head. I actually cranked it and you felt in punch in you the chest. It was beautiful.

NICE- that's just sick! Sounds like a good answer to the guitarists who insist on power tube distortion from their 100 watt non master volume heads. " Really- I'll see your RAHH and raise you a knock-you-right-off-the-stage"

Really, and the head was just 400 watts, not 1000 or 2000 (whatever the going rate is, these days.) It really does have a lot to do with the amount and type of speakers you have, besides the power in your amp. I will say, I've played through that Gallien Krueger head (it was the 800RB model) on two different occasions, ten years apart from each other and I will say that was a nice amp.

  I just ran across this interesting thread on upgrading to an Eminence Beta-12A. Contains good photos and comments. Also an interesting reply concerning lining the cab with acoustic foam called 'sonic-barrier'. I am seriously considering this mod. 8)

Sounds cool. I'm going to wait until my 5 years is up before I think of doing any mod work, though. That's if I have the amp that long and actually lasts. You never know. I'd hate to do something to void my warranty by tinkering and with my luck, something goes wrong with the amp afterwards.

The five year warranty timeframe is a consideration that I didn't consider. Even though this is a very simple 'plug-and-play' exchange that would cost about $100, that's about all a used Rumble 75 is worth anyway. Still a speaker upgrade is a sure way to make your combo sound better. Especially so in the Rumble 150. 8)
