Greetings.

I see a lot of conversation from those who use the Bronco 40 and also make good use of the Fuse capabilities.

My question: are there any Bronco owners reasonably satisfied with using the Bronco 40 without feeling the need to spend much time in Fuse?

Granted, Fuse offers vast tweakability but are any of you just satisfied to use the amp "stock" without hooking up to Fuse?

Any opinions greatly appreciated.

Steve

Hi Steve. Interesting take on an amp designed to be used in conjunction with your computer. That be like driving a Ferrari under the speed limit! On the other hand, a lot of bass players would rather run from guitar to amp without anything else in between so maybe there are those who enjoy the Bronco with just the panel controls.

I'll admit that while I run the FUSE software the only effect I've used with any regularity is reverb. I like old school vintage tones and much of what I've enjoyed using is the Fender tube models Or Rockin' Peg with just subtle tweaks. Either way, it's all good!

Thanks for taking time to reply friend.

I am actually looking at either the Bronco 40 or the Roland Bass Cube 20XL.
Your comments are well taken!

When you get right down to it I think I'd much prefer having it all at my fingertips so to speak (with the Roland) rather than feeling I'm missing out on something by not deep diving into Fuse.

Hope that makes sense. For home use, and given my newbie experience, my suspicion is the Roland's WYSIWYG design will suite me just fine.

Of course further musings always welcome since I'm not pulling the trigger till later this month.

Steve, promise yourself to give the Roland some serious listening time on it before pulling the trigger. Really let your ears make the decision. The reason I say that is I've owned four Rolands over a ten year span, the last three being Cube amps. Now these were all guitar amps mind you, but the Cubes were, hands down, the most sterile sounding amps I've ever owned. A trip to the dentist was more enjoyable than płaying their computer-generated tones. Lifeless is the best word to descrimve them. Now maybe the bass amps sound better, and their built like a brick s***house, but I just couldn't stand the lousy effects and dead tone. I kept wanting to like them (as you can see), but to no avail.

Give it a good listen using all the features, or better yet, get it home and płay the heck out of it through the return period if you can.

I'm trying to think some other modeling bass amps for ya. If I come with anything I'll post something in this thread. Isn't this fun...I love summer! Keep me posted.

I guarantee I will give the Roland a good listen. They're pretty non-existent locally so may have to resort to ordering one to demo.

I used to own a MicroCube so I have to agree I often wondered whether it was my "concert damaged" ears playing tricks or whether the Roland was, as you say, sterile sounding...needless to say I returned it not long after buying.

I appreciate any further recommendations re a bass modeller.

As I see it right now there's really only two players in this game...

The Bronco is def still a contender...who knows? just having the Fuse capability, just in case cannot hurt.

Thanks for responding friend.

I always use FUSE with the amp, i use it in my bedroom whilst my workhorse amp is my Marshall half stack i use everywhere else.
i would have no problem using this for small gigs and budget recording or maybe using it for a bit of window shopping for my next Fender amp but the main thing for me is that i have an amp small enough and that i can work with using the software.
