Okay, we haven't done a "favorites" topic yet so I thought this was as good a time as any. Tell us the amp models you're currently into and why. Any special settings you're using to give you that satisfying tone? Maybe through sharing those settings we can each find something new to try using our own amps.

I'll wait to see if this post takes off before I add the couple of models that I'm into right now. I will admit though, they change frequently depending on my mood. Have at it guys, who's first?

Hi iabssplyr,

This is a cool topic idea. Perhaps you can tell us what your favorite models and settings are? Thanks

Cheers,

Sad there is no action here. :(

The digital modeling capability and ease of recording are the whole reason for being behind the Bronco 40. 8)

I've been spending a lot of time with the Rockin' Peg setting with no real modifications. Sounds great.

The TV Bassman has a very old school thick sound. Fun to just play in that rich mud. I can imagine it working very nice in a delta kind of setting. Octavizer monster sound is trey cool also. Some of these sounds work best when just soloing out and enjoying the instrument. Getting in that practice time just being creative pays great dividends.

Playing with an old drummer lately. He has electric drums so it makes for some subdued volumes. He is also loving the tones out of the Bronco. TV Bassman and 59 Bassman are just so rich sounding. With my slave power amp and two larger cabs, this rig is proving to be very versatile for me needs. If I ever get to play with one of the class D bass amps, my view may change. No money to experiment so enjoying my sound is what my focus is.

Being the OP on this topic, and not being on this forum for ages I thought I'd check back in. Sad that there's not much action in the past year, aside from a few new posters.

I sold my Bronco last November to a guitar player who I then became friends with and now we're playing as a duo. Yesterday we were rehearsing and I decided to use the Bronco, which I haven't played since selling it. Wow, did it sound great! I used the Fender Tube 300 and GK models and that's all I needed for the afternoon. Plenty of volume in our basement practice area, easy to dial in, and it sounded terrific. All of a sudden I began to realize that I missed the amp so I'm kicking around the idea of picking up a new one for my music room and for small gigs.

He runs a drum machine through my old one and likes what it does. All I know is that Bronco inspired me more to dig in and play more than my Markbass gigging rig! For the buck, it still does offer a lot of bang!

Yes, the Bronco is a keeper. I recently bought a Rumble 350 for bigger rooms. but I will take the Bronco first in any situation that allows for it.

Modwiz, nice to see you've picked up the ball and run with it concerning keeping our thread alive. I've enjoyed reading your thoughts on the Bronco 40. As mentioned a bit ago, I decided to order another Bronco 40 and it arrived yesterday. Had a little time to set up the FUSE app and rehearse a little with some of the models.

I'm using a P-bass knockoff this time 'round and it's a completely different sounding amp, compared to when I was playing a violin bass through it last year. Though I did not like the '59 Bassman before, it sounds really nice with this bass and I've done minimal tweaking so far. I think the amber Bassman TV is still my favorite, though a little Rockin' Peg does the soul good now and then.

This is going to be my small gig amp for its tone and ease of hauling. My duo partner and I have an hour-long show Saturday morning and I'm really looking forward to running through it. I'll let you know how we do in a cafeteria-sized room.

I've never had the opportunity to get up close and personal with a Bronco 40, but keep hearing nothing but good things about them.

Now the voices in my head are telling me that I really need one!

You tell him, Linnin! oxfan, at the very least you should give it ten minutes wherever you find it and scroll through the various models. I did that and was hooked. For a practice amp it's terrific, but it'll do small gigs as well. With the XLR out you can run through a PA as long as your stage volume is within reason.

I'll be gigging with it on Saturday in a fairly decent-sized room with a small PA, so we'll see what happens. We tapes everything we do and I'm confident that the tone will sound as good as I play!
