With the introduction of Zoom's new multi-effects bass pedal, the B3, the question is will Fender answer the challenge with a Bronco-version of their current floor pedal? I think this would be the perfect time to bring one out because from what I've read there's a lot if interest that's bring generated by Zoom's latest product.

So here are three questions I'd enjoy reading your thoughts on:

1) Will you be taking a close look at the B3 and possibly making a purchase over the next few months?

2) Would you consider waiting on that purchase if you knew Fender was hot in Zoom's tails with a Bronco Floor for around the same price?

3) Are there alternatives to these you'll be looking at?

I'm not sure at this point. I've been touting the building of a Bronco Floor, and if Fender would tip their hand a bit and let us know one is in the works I'd probably wait this year. Otherwise, the B3 sounds like a super buy for $200. I like the looper function as well as the DI capability.

Chime in with a thought or two, and maybe Loren or one of the other fine folks at Fender might drop a hint or two along the way. Thanks!

My answers:

1 - No close look at the B3, I have the B2 (noisy) and other Zoom stuffs (noisy).
2 - No Zoom for me, no waiting for Bronco floor
3 - Alternative: a Bronco head with more power (Rumble 150 head style) for playing in a band or the same 40 w for the house (I'm currently using only the amp section with my 2 x 10 cab). Fender can put the amp section in a box, add a speaker out and it's alive.

Leave it to you, rb55, to come up with a unique perspective to my questions. I used a Zoom B1 until I gave it to my son to mess with. I liked a few of the models, but didn't feel too strongly about it either way. Early reports I saw have it as quieter and, with the looper, making it fun for the recreational player.

I was just trying to the pot here hoping that someone from Fender might jump in and mention a about floor pedal that's in development, but nothing so far. I could see possibly a >100-watt amp to be added to the existing Bronco40, but I still think a pedal version would be ahead of that at the retail level. That way it could mate to all their existing bass amps without having to create/add a new line of amps. As I always say, my Bronco is perfect for low-level practice in the bedroom, but I'd like some of those tones at a higher volume level.

We'll have to see what happens. Thanks for checking in with your as-usual interesting two-cents worth. I'm glad you're happy with your "modified" Bronco40.

Okay, so the Fender Bronco pedals vs. Zoom B3 topic sunk faster than the Titanic...I get, I get it. The only reason I'm posting again, besides being lonely, is to add to my Bronco wishlist in case Fender is actually kicking around the idea (and they should be) of a multi-effects pedal for bass.

1) Full complement of amp models/cabs like with the Bronco40 (more amp choices too).
2) Updated FUSE software with possibly an easier-to-use interface.
3) A comprehensive owner's manual that actually explains all of the pedal's functions and the software's parameters. I'm still wondering what all the stuff is in the "advanced" section of each amp and what it does if i turn a knob one way or another.
4) A built-in expression pedal is a must. I don't want to have to pay extra for something I know most people, especially recreational bassists, will frequently use.
5) A built-in looper so Fender owners won't feel left out when comparing their pedal to the B3. Let's set the pace with a 60-second version and make the others jealous!

That's it. Oh yeah, somewhere in the $250 range would be most excellent. I promise to buy the first one because the more I play with the Bronco40 the more I enjoy it. Keeping the deep bass back a bit has really helped (along with stretching out the driver) in lessening the bottoming-out effect. No, it's not going to keep up with a drummer, but you'll practice a lot more because it sounds so good and is fun to use.

Anyone who wants to add to the list, disagree with my wishes, or just wants to second the need is free to post away. Thanks for reading!

I have the zoom B1. The drum machine is fun to play along with. Run it into the bronco through the aux and enjoy the ride.

The B1 has a nice setting for Stanley Clarke. Trying to duplicate it on the Bronco. Have two proto-presets for it, fun to play but not quite ready for prime time uploading, IMO.
