I'm guessing we will see another overhaul of the Rumble combos soon. That got me to thinking about what I'd like to see on the "perfect" amp for me.

If you could have only one bass amp. What features and specs would this perfect amp have? It could be a combo or a stack but remember you have to take it to rehearsals as well as gigs because, remember, you can only have one.

Mine would be a 500 watts Class D combo at 4 ohms into one 15" Eminence Neo and one 10" Eminence neo with one Foster horn and a quality crossover, front cab porting, tube preamp, built in adjustable optical compressor, 6 band sliding EQ system on each channel, one active input with flat voicing plus passive input with vintage voicing and each have separate channels. Either a built in tuner or a tuner mute switch, tuner/preamp out jack, XLR direct out with adjustable level, power amp in jack, integral tilt back legs, birch cab, total weight under 60 lbs with wheels. No fans, no flashing red lights in the cab porting either please! But I would want it to say FENDER on the front and come with a ten year warranty! Put the Fender traditional grill cloth on it framed in black Tolex. Oh and retail is under $800. LOL

Just found this thread. A very well considered rig you have conceived here BroDave. I'm shocked

As a bit of a meta-physician, there are always things I consider because it is how I am wired. I love the Birch for reasons other than the obvious good choice. I want a class D amplifier ever since I tried a Prometheus with one in a store. I may have to buy a new Crown for my beast rig to make that work. So, where might I be different?

I would like an 8", or two, maybe even a pair of 6". Seismicaudio just came of with a 4x6 cab @ 36 lbs. rated at a frequency response of 20hz-10kHz. The cab is deeper (18") than it is tall or wide, LOL. I think 10 speakers are great maybe even preferable. Aforementioned consideration come in to play for me. I have a 4x8 cab and it will punch you in the chest. (In a nice way :D ) Makes my very rich and melodious 15'' seem disinterested. The 4x8 has a tweeter crossed over at 3.5kHz

So, other than these tweaks of mine, your design is great. I would buy one (your design).....yesterday.

I would have to say that I found it in my new Rumble 150 Combo. I just got it last week and it is an absolute monster! It has all the features and power I need and the casters make it a really easy amp to move around! Life is good in my neck of the woods!!
ABS :D

20 years of messing around with the bass...the best amp I've played through? Easily the Fender Bassman 400 2X10 combo(the one with the directions under the knobs). Crisp, crunchy, fat and soft all at the same time. Loud too. Maybe I'll find a used one.

If that is the Bassman combo with the open rack space under the head for a tuner or compressor, YEP that is a good-un!

Well, the time has come to start seriously looking for a bass amp. I'm thinking about going to Music Go Round to look for some higher wattage keyboard amps. They'll be likely to have on cheap, cause they sit around forever before they're bought...and they're often times retired from a church or a school(haven't been abused).

I don't see many of those Bassman's I like so much.
