I heard a rumor that the TV Series is going to be cancelled. Anybody else hear this?

I just heard it from you.

The following is all just personal speculation and I have no evidence of any of the following. I really don't see that happening right away. Certainly not this year. There probably would not be a new bass combo until January of 2013 at the very earliest. They just got the Bassman line filled out with the new tube stacks and the TV model is only a couple of years old.

For sure R&D is expensive. I know they are still shipping TV's to dealers and dealers are still taking orders. I just checked and every amp in the TV line is still available.

Probably the new T models will be really hot for a while and possibly outsell the TV combos initially, but some players will still opt for the convenience of a quality combo and if they want a Fender brand amp that means a TV.

The Rumble series combos are far more affordable, but not at the quality level of the TV's. Fender needs a pro quality combo in the lineup or lose the pro market combo share they have left. Most pros looking for a Fender combo would pick the TV over the Rumble.

If any Fender bass amp line needs revamping it should be the Rumble combos since they have been around longer. But like I said, this is just personal speculation.

Well... They're gone now... They're no longer on the website.

I liked the Bassman TV. I hope I can find a used one somewhere.

That is truly surprising. I just checked and Musicians Friend not only still has each model in stock but has the Bassman TV Ten as a "stupid deal of the day." If you go to the stupid deal page it is $300 off the usual street price. Guess that is a sure sign they are on the way out.

If I had any criticism of them it would be the size and weight. While other pro lines were going for ultra light designs and class D technology, these went in the other direction being a bit larger and heavier than similarly power spec'd amps from other lines.

In their favor they do sound great and I think better than the lightweights. Can't argue with the high power output either. If I ever bought another Fender combo, it would have to be say Bassman on it. The higher power Rumble amps are good all around but also way too heavy for me and I like old school looking stuff a lot, especially if it has modern features.

I thought the Bassman Combos were great, other than the carpet exterior.
