On the back of the fender bassman 150 under the three prong input, it says speaker input 420 watts. Does that mean when its plugged into a cabinet the amp is 420 watts. Would love a quick response if possible.

I am attaching a link that you can hover on to get a close up of that area. Select the rear panel image, second from the left under the large photo. The power rating label under the power plug refers to total AMP power consumption in watts... the actual POWER that is drawn from the wall outlet. Are you sure that the word 'speaker' is included in that power label text?

Again, select the rear panel image and place your cursor over the area that you wish to view close up - I'm seeing 360 watts total, but yours may be an older version than the one in the link.

Your amp will deliver a maximum of 150 watts to a proper speaker load.

Correct PL! That is the power consumption, not power output. This is a common misconception however.

The amp does 150 watts into the minimum load, which on both variations of the Bassman 150 is 4 Ohms. The post 2005 update was slightly more efficient only consuming 360 watts while still producing 150 watts at 4 Ohms. These came with an Eminence 4 Ohm speaker stock, so you can't get more watts out of them than you will in the stock configuration.
