You'll get one. I just want to get it out and put it through it's paces first. Make sure the honeymoon phase is over and I can give an honest appraisal of it's abilities.

Very sweet rig. The blond is nice on the eyes, IMO. Enjoy, I would. :D

Okay. Report from our first rehearsal. We do live rehearsals in a local club. Kind of like a "house band" type deal. We get to store some gear and supplies, kind of like a base of operations and a practice space in trade for providing music on Sunday afternoons semi-regularly.

First, any worries there might have been about volume for bar gigs is gone. It was plenty loud enough and I didn't even need to put her at half mast. Like with most tube amps once you get around 4 she starts to REALLY come alive.

Second, tone. Now my old 550X was no slouch in the tone department. When shopping for the hybrid I tried everything. I've still yet to hear anything that compares in that market. It put all other hybrids to shame in regards to tone. HOWEVER, the difference between the Bassman 100T and 550X was clear not only to me. In a word, the part time bartender who is also a drummer and professional sound guy commented "Phenomenal". That P bass sound in my head that I hear when I think of a split coil P. I now have it again. Definite shades of Duck Dunn.

Third, weight. Wow. I really can't convey how much easier load in/out is with this Neo 410. It's literally like night and day. Amazing. I had been skeptical on the Neo cabs for years. Well, I'm a believer now. Also, that extra 10" of cone between the two 115s and the 410 is definitely noticeable. While I do prefer the fatness of 15s for shaking the floor. The 410 still maintains that vintage sound and projects so much better. So I'm definitely happy there.

Plus, the Blonde/Oxblood got nothing but "ooohs and aaaahhhs". Our drummer who is an older cat was just in love with it.

So far so good. We just wrapped up recording this past month and we've got some behind the scenes stuff to do to get this release ready. So we don't have a gig til next month. I'll update again when I get a chance to use it in the trenches.

Hello TheKingofPain. After reading your assessment of your 100T, I'm seriously thinking about getting a 100T for my 2 2X12 TC Electronic cabs. You mentioned volume is pretty considerable for bar settings, and a bit more. That is sounding more than intriguing to me for a tube amp, under 300 watts, and about $350. less also.

I love it, and I've gigged with it since my last post and it handled it beautifully. Exactly what I wanted. That classic Bassman 100 sound. Now, to be fair. If I was in a hard rock band that played bigger venues I think the 300 Super Bassman would have been the way to go. However, for any show I play in the backwater I live in the 100 is more than enough, and if I want I can run her a bit hot to get the real tube break up. Where as had I went with the Super Bassman I would be forced to use the "modern" channel and the artificial gain to get the dirty sound in smaller bars and keep my volume in check. Which might be ideal for some, and there is wisdom in always having way more power than you need. However, I am at the point where i know exactly what I want and need at this point so this is perfect.

I've tinkered with the modern channel, but honestly it just doesn't sound as good as that real vintage channel dirt. Still, I guess it's handy to have. I think they should have made the Bassman 100 with the 2nd guitar circuit like the old ones and saved the modern channel for the 300 monster where you might really need it due to the massive amount of clean headroom. However, from a business standpoint that would make the 59 Reissue pretty obsolete, and hurt them on guitar amp sales possibly.

Either one it would be hard to go wrong with. I had toyed with getting a 300 restock for the same price as I got my 100t for. That would give you the best of both. The lower price and the monster power. However, I'm a devotee of that Silverface Bassman 100 tone for bass, and that's what the 100t delivers. So in the end there really was no choice for me. The Sunn based amp sounds great, though.

You're making that Bassman 100T sound more in line for my usage needs. Your opinion, how would you rate the 100T to handle a venue for about 300 - 500 people? Mostly 300 plus.

If the music's on the mellower side. (country, blues, jazz, ect.) It could do fine, but I think that's the threshold where it would absolutely require PA support honestly. (However, I am talking just running a 410, if you've got more surface area then it may be just fine) Though depending on the layout just the amount of sound the bodies eat up might hurt you. If you're talking decent size rooms like that I'd probably opt for the Super Bassman just to be on the safe side. Especially if the rooms don't have good acoustics and you lose a lot of your power trying to overcome the room itself. Most of the rooms I play are backwater small dive bars. 300 people would be the absolute max for attendance, and they'd be packed in like sardines. The 100t can handle that, but honestly I'd want to be ran through the PA for anything over 150 people anyhow. Also, if you're playing hard rock or metal, or might be at some point then I'd say definitely go with the 300. If guitarists you gig with are of the Jimmy Page worshipping variety then you'll probably need it.

In all probability it would be used in studio setups. I was just using the live numbers in a room, as an approximate average sound base I'm used to using. With using it just in a sound stage right now, but it's nice to have the 300 watts there.

Well, it's looking like I'm going to order the Super Bassman on Tuesday. It looks like a potent tube amp with 4 12's @ 4 ohms. 8)

Awesome!!!! Great choice! One word of warning. Check your tubes and their rating. I normally used to run 7's in my old 74 bassman 100. Which for a bass amp is actually a little low, but I like dirt. When I got my 100 I noticed that it was really, really dirty. I checked the GT's included with it stock. Fender loaded it with 2's. Which is crazy as that's generally what you would run on a guitar rig that you want to break up easy. For a bass amp it gets dirty if you push it past 5. Whether you dig in or not. I called Fender and mentioned it to them and they sent me a free quad of 8's. (GT recommend 8-10 for bass amps and they are correct to do so) Now with the Super Bassman you have different tubes so they may not put guitar rated tubes in it, but you never know. I just wanted to give you a heads up. The 2's work fine functionally, but it really cut into the clean headroom of the amp. At smaller gigs it's no issue as I don't really need to dig in and push it. However, I know I've got two big gigs coming up this weekend and next. So after rehearsal tonight I will be swapping over to the 8's for that extra bit of clean headroom. I hope you enjoy it. I'm a big fan of the 100t and the Super looks amazing.
