The Fenders are at least not going to the extreme on pricing, like Mesa is. Mesa sells at MSRP only through it's dealers. From what I've heard, Mesa is more tight about control of the MSRP than most of the other music manufacturing companies. Mesa supposedly will drop a dealer if it breaks the MSRP guide lines.

I wonder how those prices are set to begin with in all of that. I suppose production costs and advertising factor into it.

Mesa is to the best of my knowledge MIA. So the labor costs must be pretty high. They do make a quality product too.

In the Bassman 115 Neo, I have a Speakon jack I'm using for the amp in. I wish the Super Bassman had a Speakon for the Main Speaker out too. Especially when you have to have constant load for the tube head. The head ain't cheap either, you think they could at least install one on the head for the Main Speaker out.

They don't have a Speakon jack? That's odd considering that seems to be commonplace with bass amps these days.

No, they don't. The Bassman 500, and 800 have the combination 1/4", Speakon jacks. I don't think the Bassman 100T has a Speakon either.

I could be wrong, but didn't the original 300 watt tube Fender that was a rebadged Sunn amp from a few years ago have a Speakon? I'd have to dig for the files or pics around to see if it did. For some reason, I thought it might have, but I could be thinking of another amp.

It could have had Speakon's. That was the 300 copy of the the Sunn 300 head.

Yeah, they originally brought back the Sunn name, made that 300 watt tube and 1200 watt solid state heads (along with cabs and guitar stuff,) then shut the brand down and put Fender logos on them. I remember those quite well.

The killing of Sunn was a mortal sin. The Sunn name alone was worth keeping alive just for it's monumental history, for someone to own a Sunn. I would've probably been one for a Sunn.

Yeah, those were pretty cool amps. You do see them around still. I guess they're popular with the stoner/doom metal crowd. There's a band called Sunn O))), who did an album with Scott Walker. You know, from The Walker Brothers.

Every once in awhile I see a pristine Sunn amp, and I just blink out for a second.

Back to the real world, I ran the USA Geddy Lee through the Fender setup today for the first time. OMG, OMG, OMG!!! Talk about the Sunn sound, I made the right choice. I never had the previous USA GL through the Super Bassman, and a 115 Neo before. The 115 Neo for my taste, beats the 410 Neo for overall sounds.

Sounds pretty good. 8) By the way, I'm surprised you never picked up an old Sunn amp. They usually aren't too expensive, depending on model and condition. How come you never have?

I honestly didn't want to the chance of problems, and repairs. If I had another amp, I would consider it. But I really don't need a second one.

That's true. These amps are over 40 years old, or even almost 50, give or take a year. A lot of them have been used extensively during that time period.
