The Super Bassman sitting on top of an Ampeg SVT-212AV cab. Fender, why don't you go back to offering a Bassman 2X12 cab?

I ran the Geddy Lee Jazz through the Fender / Ampeg setup today. The Geddy Lee was thunderous, to say the least. And that was without pulling out the bass knob for plus bass sound. The Bassman 410 Neo didn't have this much bottom to it as the SVT-212AV has.

Was it more so then the American Standard?

I think so. The Am. Std. I have has a good bottom to it, but not that really deep bass tone. It does do better on the deeper tone, with the Super Bassman's bass knob pulled out for the bass plus tone. It's in the pups for sure. The CS60's on the Am. Std. are a bit more of an overall rounded bass sound, where the Am. Vintage 70's seem to be a bit more deep, for no better description for the sound from them. But very clear, not a muddy tone at all. I like the Am. Vintage 70's pups bit more over the CS60's.

For me, there's no comparing an Ampeg SVT head, to the Super Bassman head. The Super Bassman does it all.

It's really too bad that Fender doesn't have a Bassman 2X12 cab available to go along with the Bassman heads. The Super Bassman really pumps through a 2X12 cab.

I'm back with the Super Bassman / Bassman 115 Neo.

What made you decide to go back to that setup? Hartke wasn't working out for you?

The Hartke was ok. I picked up a few more watts, and I can add or change cabs. The Hartke is actually 250 watts RMS. To get 500 watts out of the Hartke, the old game of running 4 ohms through it. At least the Super Bassman is 300 watts at 8, 4, or 2 ohms. The Bassman 115 Neo also has a fully adjustable HF Horn also. I just like the tube head.

I have to admit, the Fender amps do sound very good, as well. It's the reason I even came to this forum to begin with. I don't suppose you saw that Bassman 800 around, did you? Come to find out, the bassist from Green Day had something to do with it's design and I've seen a video with him talking about it and playing through it. I'm not a fan of the band, but it does sound pretty good. The video is on the site in the product page, I do believe.

I haven't seen the first Bassman 800 around. A bunch of Bassman 500's that are just sitting. For $200. dollars more, the 800 to me, makes more sense, than the 500. At 8 ohms, the Bassman 800 is rated at 500 watts. That's a decent wattage for 8 ohms.
In a way, that's like me with the USA GL Jazz. Not a fan of Rush, or Geddy Lee, but I really dig that USA GL Jazz to the max.

Yeah, I'm not sure how any of the Fender amps are doing, other than what the Rumbles did. I did log in a couple of times over at Talkbass, but I decided to really get involved there or post anything. I just can't get into it for some reason. I haven't had the time lately to get spread out all over the various social medias lately, anyway. Between Facebook and here and my news feeds, that can eat up some time. Now I'm starting rehearsing, so I have to consolidate my time even further.

I think if they came out with a Rumble 800, competitively priced ($5-600 would be fine) to Ampeg's 800 version, or whatever is out there, this would probably take off pretty well, I think. That would be cool, especially if you want a high powered amp, not to say 500 watts is wimpy. Far from it.

Part of the problem possibly with the 800, is like you said the $999. price tag. And since there's the 500 around at $799., it's almost like if they want to move more 800's, Fender almost has to drop the price on the 800, and drop the price on the 500, or drop the 500 all together, so the 800 will fill the void then, without the 500 around.
What did he just say? Image

Either would work. It's comparatively expensive compared to say an Ampeg, but then again, Orange is even more expensive. They want $569 or whatever for their Crush 100 watt amp when you could get a Rumble 500 combo for $30 and have a lot more amp.
