Hi Folks,
I need a little help on this AB165 circuit in my 67 SF bassman.
I have replaced all three transformers with Mercury Magnetics trannies.
In the cap box I have replaced all the caps with Sprague Atoms.
Replaced the cathode resistors. NOS preamp tubes and 2 new Winged C 6L6's.
One problem is I cannot locate the 8uf@450 volt cap shown on the far left of the
schematic that ties to a 27K resistor and then to ground. Unless I had replaced it with
a new 20uf and I have forgotten it may have been an 8uf. Can someone clear me up on
this.
I have also replaced several of the .01 caps on the board with Orange drops.
Now here is my most aggravating problem, when I play most any note on my basses E string from the 12th down and if I play an open A there is this awful kind of sound along with the note tone. Makes me think that it's a bad frequency overtone. Above all those notes I mentioned, playing on the other strings you really don't hear it as much unless you turn-up the volume of the bass or the amp.
I am really stumped.
Anyone have an idea or ran into this before?
Thanks very much for your time and advice.
