Since the Rumble 350 Combo is not equipped with a 1/4 inch speaker drive output jack, I suppose that you could reconfigure the Rumble 350 combo output stage like it is with the Bassman 250 by adding a 1/4 inch speaker output drive jack on the back of the amp panel. You would have to add a 1/4 inch speaker plug to the existing internal Rumble 350 combo cabinet speaker(s) and route that wiring to the outside rear of the cabinet to plug into the new output jack. Then, using a high quality 1/4 inch male to male speaker cable rated for 400 watts, with the amp powered OFF, you would unplug the internal combo speaker(s) and plug in the external cabinet making CERTAIN that the external cabinet impedance is FOUR (4) OHMS !!.

I would NOT recommend this modification if the amp is still under warranty OR if you do not have electronic experience in doing this type of work. I'd suggest that you consult with a Fender amp technician about the feasibility because there is very little room inside the back panel of a Rumble 350 Combo amp to squeeze in a new speaker output drive jack. Drilling holes into an amp panel can always lead to disaster. However, since the Rumble 350 Head only is equipped with two 1/4 inch parallel wired speaker drive output jacks, the technician may be able to duplicate that circuit configuration in the Rumble 350 Combo amp or just add one speaker drive output jack as with the Bassman 250.

If you do this yourself, purchase the highest quality, heavy duty, high power rated 1/4 inch jack that is available in your area for reliability. Mark the internal speaker leads properly so the hot and ground leads do not get reversed when you are installing the new output jack. Smoke from the transistor audio output stage is not a good thing.

Good luck...

You can not use the combo's existing speakers PLUS an external cab. You can use one or the other. In order to use the speakers in the combo plus an external cab you will have to change out the speakers in the combo itself to 16 Ohm speakers. If you want, you can do what Paducah Luke said for a while.

Plus you could do this later when you had additional funds. Replace the built in 8 Ohm speakers with two 16 Ohm speakers which will give you an 8 ohm load from the two internal combo speakers, then add an 8 Ohm 4x10 cab. With all 6 speakers online you'd have 350 watts into a 4 ohm total load which is the biggest load the amp can take. Without the extension cab you'd have about 175 watts into the internal 8 ohm load which should be enough for rehearsals and such. This amp will run at 8 ohms, it just won't run at a load under 4 Ohms.

The trend with bass combos seems to be to max out the amp using the internal speakers. It looks good on paper but in the real world people sometimes want to add extension cabs and maxing out the amp with the internal speakers eliminates that flexibility.
