What is the best way to connect these two cabs to this head - by connecting one cable to only one of the 2 speaker-out jacks on the head and then that cable to one of the cabs, and then another cable from that cab to the other cab, or by connecting each cab to one of the two speaker-out jacks on the head so they each are connected to a speaker-out jack? Thanks.

I'm really glad you brought up speaker cables! Players debate the quality of instrument cables all the time but seldom does anyone talk about speaker cable quality in a high power bass stack, which is in some regards even more important. Sure you need a quality instrument cable, but quality speaker cables are super important too!

Under no circumstances should you EVER EVER EVER use an instrument cable as a speaker cable as they are two completely different things! Not even in an emergency! You should keep a back-up speaker cable in case you have a speaker cable issue so you won't be tempted to use an instrument cable in a pinch.

Really it doesn't matter electronically whether you daisy chain or not. BUT I personally do not daisy chain. Since you have two speaker jacks on the amp I'd use two cables just long enough to go from the amp to each speaker jack. The reason I prefer to run two separate cables from the amp is that one speaker cable or the other can go bad or get pulled out by accident and I am not out of business.

If the cables are way too long you'll have unnecessary line loss and it is far more likely someone will trip over them and pull them out. So I recommend measuring and getting speaker cables custom made or make them yourself in the specific lengths you need.

If you had Speak-On connectors on your amp (the Rumble 350 doesn't) and your speakers had them too I would use the Speak-Ons because phone jacks/plugs are not as good a way to connect high power as the locking Speak-Ons (sometimes called Neutrik connectors.) Another reason I recommend using the Speak-On cables is you can not possibly confuse an instrument cable with a speaker cable. I know Speak-On cables are usually more expensive but just like a quality instrument cable they are worth the difference.

I use 12 gauge speaker cables which are pretty big. Even after a long and loud gig the cables should never feel warm and I can push 450 watts through these cables for hours and hours with no apparent heat. If your cables ever feel warm they are too small and you should get larger diameter cables because you are losing watts to heat up the cables.

Brotherdave - thank you for your comprehensive response. Extremely helpful as it has been difficult to find much on this topic. Have not played since the late 80's and just getting back into it with new equipment so appreciate the insight.
