I recently purchased a 1967 (I think) Blackface Bassman head, fifty watt. It's in reasonable condition, cosmetically, and sounds nice and smooth. I'm a bass player and I know guitar guys like these amps.

Is there a source for information about these amps. I'd like to know exactly what year and whatever else I can find out about it.

It came with a 2x15 cab in pretty rough condition, although it sounds pretty good. It's a little rattley, if that's a word!

I'm just looking for more info on this cool old amp.

Use the information on this site to pin down your amp's "birthday"......

http://www.superiormusic.com/page195.htm

The standard speaker enclosure for a '67 Bassman would've been the "big-box" cab (40"H x 29"W x 11.5"D) containing a pair of Oxford 12T6 12-inch drivers.

Is it safe to plug my Fender frontman into my Fender bassman 10 through the frontmans headphone jack?Hi, on my practice amp, the Frontman, it has distortion. The bassman 10 does not. Will it work or ruin either amp if I run a plug through the Frontmans headphone jack and connect that to the Bassman 10s input?

You can safely use your Frontman's headphone jack to drive the Bassman 10 -- connect to the Bassman's inputs marked "2" for a high-gain signal such as this and use the Bassman's tone controls only sparingly.
