I occasionaly get a sharp crackle when playing some notes, usually in the D-E range. I've read the posts about a vibration problem with these notes, but my problem is a sharp crackle. Sometimes when this happens the volume will cut off and on. I've tried now cords-that's not the problem. Don't think the problem is the guitar, a '07 Gibson SG. Any thoughts?

Possible cold solder joint somewhere within the chassis?

Spurious noise at low frequencies such as you describe is often attributable to issues caused by a component (or components) vibrating to the point of losing continuity within the circuit. Look for cracked solder joints everywhere and carefully touch up anything that looks unusual with a 40-watt soldering pencil. You might also inspect all the traces on the PC board for any signs of thermal fracture or lifting from the phenolic substrate. Use a DVM if necessary and be sure to visually check each component for any indication of damage. Take a look at your speaker connections too -- wiring, jacks, plugs, and the speakers themselves.

Had a similar situation on my first Bassman 250-210.

Turned out to be a loose connection on the Active/Passive switch located between the cord input jack and the input volume control.

Keep us posted on what you find so if others have issues, they can use threads like this to add to troubleshooting possibilities.
