I recently bought a used Bassman 100 1X15 Combo. The tag on the back says it is a model PR 420, 120V, 360W made in Mexico. I have no idea of the age (though from what i read it appears to have been made in the past 10 years). i am looking to find a user manual on this thing. Tried support, but not sure which one is correct, but trying to download the file, i keep getting timed out before it ever gives me a chance to look at it. Any thoughts? Thanks Bob

Hi Bob,
I can't help you on that matter, but, would you recommend that amp?
I think I have a good offer for a Bassmann 100 --> 200 eur.

The manual for that amp type 420 is here: http://support.fender.com/manuals/bass_amplifiers/Bassman_100_manual.pdf

Here is some of the info you have been living without:

Your new amplifier delivers the
quality features that performing and recording
p rofessionals demand. On stage, the
delivers solid bass with a 15-inch woofer and
crisp, high-end response from a piezo horn. A
switchable LIMITER circuit puts soft curbs to the
amplifier’s 100-watt output by limiting distortion
at peak volumes to smooth, harmonic tones.
Plug your tuner into the back of the
and tune your bass guitar quickly and quietly
between songs by pressing the MUTE switch.
The provides a balanced XLR
LINE-OUT connection for a superior signal-tonoise
ratio. Suitable for output to recording
equipment, the XLR LINE-OUT comes equipped
with EQUALIZATION ON/OFF switching, an output
LEVEL control and a GROUND LIFT switch.
The was designed to sound great
with its four tone controls pointing straight up, but
why settle for great? An arsenal of tools enable
total control of your sound:
Semi-parametric equalization of the mid-frequency
range is controlled by two knobs; with
the M I D - F R E Q U E N C Y k n o b, select the fre q u e ncy
that the MID-LEVEL k n o b boosts or cuts. Use
the COMPRESSOR c o n t rol to squeeze the
dynamic range of your signal for smoother tones
and the ENHANCE switch to modify the mid-frequency
contour for a fatter sound. Bass guitars
with active pre-amps are accommodated with an
A C T I V E / PASSIVE INPUT switch. Plug in external
effects devices to the EFFECTS LOOP j a c k s
on the Rear Panel of the for unlimited
sonic options.
A. INPUT - Input jack for bass guitars.
B. INPUT PASSIVE/ACTIVE - Switch OUT for
most bass guitars (PASSIVE). Switch IN for
bass guitars with pre-amplifiers (ACTIVE).
C . G A I N - Adjusts the pre-amplifier signal level.
NOTE: Use with M A S T E R VOLUME {N} to
c o n t rol the speaker volume level.
D . PRE-AMP CLIP LED - Indicates clipping
( d i s t o rtion) in the pre - a m p l i f i e r. If undesirable
d i s t o rtion is heard when this LED illuminates,
re d u c e G A I N {C} level.
E . PRE-AMP SIGNAL LED - Illuminates when a
s u fficient signal level is present for pro p e r
operation of the unit circ u i t ry.
F. ENHANCE - Switch IN modifies the contour
of the middle-frequency range (useful for
slap-style and deep-toned bass playing).
Switch OUT for E N H A N C E {F} OFF (useful for
f i n g e r-style bass playing).
G. BASS LEVEL - Adjusts the level (boost/cut) of
the low-frequency range.
H. MID LEVEL - Adjusts the level (boost/cut) of the
m i d d l e - f requency range that has been selected
by the MID FREQ {I} c o n t ro l .
I. MID FREQ - Selects the middle-frequency
range for the MID LEVEL {H} knob to adjust.
J. TREBLE LEVEL - Adjusts the level (boost/cut)
of the high-frequency range.
K . COMPRESSOR - Condenses the dynamic
range of the signal for a smoother sound.
The C O M P R E S S O R is OFF when this knob
is turned counter-clockwise to “0.”
L . MUTE - Switch IN disables all outputs
(including speakers) e x c e p t TUNER o u t p u t .
Switch OUT for normal unit operation.
M . MUTE LED - Flashes when M U T E {L} switch is IN.
N . MASTER VOLUME - Adjusts the power- a m p l i f i e r
signal level. NOTE: Use with G A I N {C} t o
c o n t rol the speaker volume level.
O . PWR-AMP CLIP LED - Indicates clipping
( d i s t o rtion) in the power- a m p l i f i e r. If undesirable
distortion is heard when this LED
illuminates, switch IN the LIMITER {P}, or
re d u c e the MASTER VOLUME {N} l e v e l .
P. LIMITER - Switch IN prevents excessive
clipping (distortion) in the power- a m p l i f i e r.
Q . POWER LED - Illuminates when the
POWER SWITCH {R} is ON and the unit is
receiving power. NOTE: MUTE {L} switch must
be OUT for normal unit operation.
R . POWER SWITCH - Push u p p e r- h a l f IN to switch
unit ON. Push l o w e r-half IN to switch unit OFF.

Rear Panel:
A . IEC LINE CORD CONNECTOR - The power
line cord must be connected to a grounded AC
receptacle in accordance with the voltage and
f requency ratings as shown on the Rear Panel
of the , INPUT POWER {B} .
C . GROUND LIFT - Switch IN disconnects
g round connection fro m the LINE OUT {D} jack
(pin-1) which may reduce noise in the gro u n d
c i rcuit. Switch OUT is usually the best setting.
D . LINE OUT - Balanced XLR jack for output to
re c o rding or sound-re i n f o rcement equipment.
E . LINE OUT LEVEL - Adjusts the output level
o f LINE OUT {D} jack.
F. PRE/POST EQUALIZATION -
Switch IN supplies the LINE OUT {D}
jack with the p o s t - e q u a l i z a t i o n s i gnal
from the amplifier. Switch OUT
supplies the LINE OUT {D} jack with
the p re - e q u a l i z a t i o n ( d ry) signal.
G . TUNER - Connect your bass
guitar tuner here. This output jack is NOT
disabled by Front Panel M U T E switch, allowing
quiet tuning with the bass guitar plugged
into the .
