I have hear nothing but great things about this amp. I am a guitarist, don't know much about bass, but I bought this as a gift for my brother. I have been trying it out, it doesn't sound right..sounds really muffled and distorted and the horn off and on switch doesn't seem to do anything at all with the sound. I am hoping someone can shed some light on this for me so I can exchange it at guitar center before my 30 days to return it runs out. I have been trying to find clips of it on youtube so I can see what it's supposed to sound like, but no luck so far.

Are you actually testing it with a bass guitar or are you using your own conventional six string?

Try setting all the equalizer controls at the 3 o'clock position and the master volume at 11 o'clock. Use your guitar volume to control the level from that point. Also, make sure that the 'active/passive' select switch is in the 'passive' (out) position.

If you are testing with a standard six string, try to detune your E and A strings by one octave and see what happens. Good luck and please keep us posted.

I have an actual bass that I am using, it's a ibanez gsr200fm. I have the passive switch out. I was able to dial in a cleaner tone, however, right after you turn it on, it still sounds really "fuzzy" and then it kicks out a nice clean. Maybe some type of warm up or something? Anyway, so far so good. I still can't hear any difference with the horn switch either on or off.
