Ive got a 1965 bassman head that needs new tubes, problem is, i dont know which ones to get. I know the 2 big ones are 6L6 (i think) but what are the 4 little ones? thanks in advance

As you look at the chassis from the rear, from left to right the tubes should be: 6L6GC, 6L6GC, 12AT7, 7025, 7025, 7025

The 7025 tube is no longer manufactured but an equivalent tube would be any good low-noise 12AX7A.

Or you can shop for vintage NOS 7025's on Ebay and other places that specialize in old glass.

Along with new tubes, you may want to find a tech to put in new electrolytic capacitors (maybe a resistor or two), as well. Through time, they weaken (capacitors) and can actually cause damage. I've done this with my Basmans 50, 100 and 135, and what a difference. Much more power, for one!

Filter and bias caps should be inspected at five-year intervals and changed out every ten. They're cheap compared to buying new tubes, new trannies, and God-knows-what-else if they take a dump at an inopportune moment and the amp goes into meltdown mode.
