I have a bassman 50 head that has serial 606 745 so I'm assuming based on the Fender chart it was manufactured in 1967 45th week... beautiful warm sound. I have owned since 1980. Bought from high school buddy for $90 bucks! Silver face plate, black thread front. (Pardon my ignorance, does this make it a silverface or blackface. Still confused as to whether model is based on plate that has tone knobs or the fabric... ) with 2 inputs for Bass with black sliding switch for "deep' boost; volume, bass and treble controls: and 2 inputs "Normal" with volume, bass and treble control knobs. No master volume or tone controls. Has a beautiful, warm sound to it. I have it pairred with an Acoustic cabinet model 402 with 2 x 15" in it. Great for small rooms otherwise need to mic cabinet in larger clubs.

Not interested in selling, just trying to get a value on it. I'm sure it's worth more than $90 paid for in 1980... works great. Tubes are 6L6's and service is clean.

Any ideas?

I could be wrong but I thought the Bassman 50 was introduced in the seventies.

The photo of the amp on Elderly.com is exactly what mine looks like except it has black threadface. Even the bit of rust on the top chrome plates is the same..... That is listed as a 1968. On the front of the amp it just says Bassman Amp in blue letters. On the back of the amp is where it say it is 50 watts in small letters at the bottom. Anyways, that gives me good idea. Thanks for the input.

You confused me. I thought you were referring to a "Bassman 50". I looked it up and the Bassman 50 was, indeed, introduced in 1972. The Amp listed at "Elderly" appears to be a 1968. It's a "Dripedge" model with the black line separation, which is indicative of a '68. What you don't know is if it has blackface or silverface circuitry since the early '68s were still blackface up until April of that year. As far as the grill cloth is concerned, it's highly discolored and is not really identifiable as an original '68 from the photo.

Sounds the same one I have in the garage, discolored cloth and all. Not sure what to do with it, besides research it online

I bought a Bassman 50 (metal silverface under the knobs) in 1972. It came with a matching speaker cabinet (2X15" speakers). The amp was beautiful and never let me down in the 6 years I had it. However, within weeks I realised that the speakers were just not up to the job, flap and distortion by the bucket and I didn't play all that loud. Changed them for Fane Crescendos and what a difference. Fender do "penny pinch" too much for my liking.
