I have had a Fender bassman 150 for about two years now. Mostly used for practicing and small gigs. I have noticed that when I push the volume up there is a "hissing" type of sound that I have been able to track down to the horn. I have not worried about it much, but now I am getting into some small, live recording opportinities and the sound is unacceptable for that. When I disconnect the horn from the amp and reinstall it, the sound remains; however, if I remove the horn completely from the cabinet, the sound goes away. I have made sure the horn is tightly screwed into the cabinet.

I am asking if others may have had or noticed a similar sound from your 150 and if you were able to address it other than removing the horn from the cabinet like I have done? I will try some other fixes and will post what I find.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for taking the time to post a reply.
The settings remain the same; in fact, I tried quite a number of different settings; all to no avail. After my initial posting, I spent some time looking at the horn and enclosure in detail. What I found was a very "flimsy" seal between enclosure and horn. I am suspect that what is happening is that seal is not airtight and the sound is probably from air movement between the horn and cabinet, even thought it is tightly screwed in. Either way, it needs to withstand vibration.

I have not had a chance to try a fix; options may be caulk (more permanent than I would like) or some type of cardboard or rubber that would create a tighter seal between the horn and cabinet.

Once I come up with a plan and try it, I will post my results.
Again, thanks for responding. I am glad to hear another 150 is working well for someone.
