I'm not a bass player but when I was in the shop the other day there was a bass player trying one or two of them out and I thought they sounded great with that old time Fender bass sound that I like very much.
Sorry for my lack of bass and bass amp knowledge but I wanted to add my feeble opinion on this question. BTW, the guy playing bass had a smile on his face!!

I'd better get out of this bass forum before I get in trouble!!

I'm a very proud owner of a tv series bassman duo ten.

I traded in a 80+lb rack style head for this combo.

I could not be happier with this amp. its perfect, portable and LOUD!!!!

This is a very nice and in my opinion very affordable amp.

I no longer need to lug around 250 llbs of gear. this cab is all tone!

these are the classic bass amps, i think they'd sound good paired with a P bass..

I tried one, 2 10. It sounded warm, full of classic Fender sound. Pricey suckers tho.

I haven't seen those in person. I am assuming since they are combos, that the back is open. With bass, a lot is lost with an open back. (Still great in the studio though.) And I'm guessing they would be great in situations that you mic the cab as long as you can hear yourself through the mix.

I still think they should have brought back the 60s Bassman (either 6G6 or AA/AB circuits.) They could market these with PTP wiring and a 2X15 cab for $2,500 MSRP and still make money. (more for premium speakers.) Although, most buyers would be playing Gretsch and Gibson 6-string. If the "Bass" channel were voiced properly for Bass, They could sell a ton of these heads. And if, BIG IF, they used a multi-tap output tranny, then I could see this as a big seller.

Still say current Rumble and Bassman should be "blackface" styling.

You can see why I am not head of Fender R&D or Marketing depts.

For twenty-five hundred bucks it better have premium speakers as standard equipment!

I'm just saying. Not PC board construction. PTP. But you are right. Awesome speakers could be included. My guess is they would sell very well.

I'd guess not, not with today's market conditions.

The Tonemaster was a great design but it bit the dust, just like the Dual Professional and the '64 Vibroverb re-issue.

Gnome saing, mon?

Yeah, and I'll bet most of the Tone Masters went to Gretsch players.

An interesting thread here: http://www.gretsch-talk.com/forum/ampage-area/34637-amp-wars-nocturne-blondshell-vs-64-fender-blonde-bassman.html You may need to be registered to see the video though. $1850 and eight weeks if I am correct.

Hey PJB; I tried the 2X10, and the 1X15 TV. They did sound good. But I couldn't enough volume out of either one. For the RMS wattage rating on them, they should've been blasting. The price blew me away too. They aren't in my future anyway.

Really fj, I thought the 2x10 I tried was loud enough. To be fair, I didn't turn it up too much tho. I like vintage styling too, maybe that's why I'm attracted to them so much. I still won't pay the asking price tho.
