I've wondered that same thing myself. I love the look of it and would love to take it to a gig.

I played through one at a store and it sounded great at low volume. However, it wouldn't have enough guts to handle any kind of gig other than a small coffee house. I've asked my trusted advisor at a music store with 40 years of bass playing experience and he agrees. He loves the all tube sound, but it just can't cut it.

I will tell you that I've played the TV series a couple of times now and am learning to like it. At first I didn't understand the power curve of the gain setting and had it way too low. Therefore, it was quite quite. If you check one out, make sure you set the gain to at least half way or more and then adjust the overall volume.

Good luck.
