Has anyone else had a problem with this amp such as sounding distorted,
bad tone and volume level after it has been on for about an hour or so?

When it is first turned on everything sounds and works just like it should, then it starts sounding bad until it is turned off for 30 min. or
more, you turn it back on and it sounds fine again...for awhile.
What would cause this problem?

I have also read that Fender is discontinuing this amp,and have read about people having some of the same problems(crackling sound, etc)as
I have experienced....
Any help about this would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Check the screws on the 'TOP' of the cabinet, sometimes they work themselves loose (they hold the internals up) and can cause all kinds of problems.
I have a Bassman 400/210 which has been discontinued but I could not be happier!
I wish there was a way I could add a 15" speaker cab.........anyone know?

This can happen when one of the high wattage output transistors or one of the pre-driver transistors starts to go south. They operate OK when 'cold' but the heat developed by the transistor under load starts to break down the internal silicon junction and distortion or shut-down is produced. A trip to your local Fender Amplifier repair center can take care of that for you. They have the proper test equipment to determine which one is at fault.

Yes, having that amp, I know exactly what it is you are talking about. They used a really lame tweeter, so back that to "0" (never use it again)and limit the use of the compression. Fixed it right up. The tweeter is your main culprit.

The last time that happened, I was playing at the Baltimore Mariner's Arena and I was none to pleased (I lined out, but on stage, it was horrible).

Other than that, a great amp!!!
