I have a bassman amp for a bout 2 years. I gig weekly and lately I've developed a problem. It seems when I turn on the amp I don't get any sound till I play with the knobsa little and turn on & off the amp... then it comes back on. When the volume is off I still get the tuner to show readout but nothing from the amp. Anybody else experience this?

Sounds like a short going on plus dust in the controls. Try first with caned air and blow it all out. Then check all the wires for a loose one. If all looks OK, then take it down to be checked out. Could be a bad control along the way.

About two months ago, a Bassman 100, and a Bassman 150 were having the same noted problems on the site. Never heard back from them. One amp had been sitting idle for a good while. I think dust may have been an issue.

Dust is a small possible, I'm 54 and been playing a long time and I've had my share of dust problems. Once you start turning the controls and hear a crackling noise it's there.

Sometimes dust makes a electrical connection and it burns out and then your back to normal. Cheapest thing to try is blow it out first and shake the wires for a loose one and start it up.

Good Luck.

Depending on the humidity, if the amp has been idle, pitting may be starting on the contacts. 58 yrs.and playing since 1967.
