Hey Gang,
I am looking at going out on a new tour with a new band and I would like to chat with yous about the Fender 300 Bass amp. I have been using Ampegs for Years. The last two tours I used the SVT and the SVT3 PRO models. These worked great. This time out I have been givin the oppertunity to change my mind.
I am wondering about the tone differance between the 300 and the SVT, and a few other things. Like how well do the 300's travel? does the amp get loud and stay loud with out failing in the middle of a set?
Is it as easy to get that big phat punchy goodness I'm use to from the 300?
Thanks for taking the time to read this post...

Sincerely,

Lenny M/F Round

I also have used Ampeg etc..Recently, I purchased the TB-1200 and the 810Pro Cab. In direct comparison to the svT4 and the 810E, this Fender rig holds its own. At this level, nothing really blows anything away. It is important to buy new for a warrenty. However quality of the 810Pro cab is evident as is the design of the
TB-1200 (which made me hungry for the all-tube Bassman-300). I have on order this head and can't wait to get it. Others might post if it'll hold up on the road . I can't answer your specific questions but I have read in reviews about it having to run it for 8hr. before it stops smelling. Ok I'll deal with it when I get it. Now that I'll have (2) Fender heads, I am already thinking about getting the 410Pro cab or one of the Bassman cabs...I'll see.....When the 300head comes in this week, I'll be sure to post asap...

Good Luck on the road :!:

Just got the 300 delivered today. I am running through the Fender 810Pro and it sounds great. I have to get used to it and respect the fact that being a tube amp its a different animal. I'll be slowly breaking it in this week. I also ordered the 410 pro cab (discontinued ) from Instrument Pro. I didn't want to get the 610pro(over $1000) and this one should be fine with the TB-1200 or even this one. Only thing is that the 300 doesn't have speakon connections but it has a 2ohm, 4, 8 ohm switch. If you have the dough for this one (SamAsh $1800 +) and a back-up then its worth it.....take care.... :!:
