Hey! My Rumble 100 makes a noise when connected to my bass, which gets a little quieter when I touch anythyng metallic (strings, knobs, etc.). A friend of mine said it was the polarity. What can I do? :?: Thanks!

It does sound like polarity on the amp. They use to call it "ground polarity". Some amps had a ground polarity switch on them. If you didn't have a switch, you would unplug the amp and turn the plug around, and replug it in. Those power cords didn't have a ground plug as most amps do today. Is your power to the amp grounded? Extension cord, wall socket? It could be the connection cord. This sounds stupid, but are you grounded? Does this happen when you are in bare feet on the floor? If you can't figure it out, I would suggest having the amp checked out for ground. I Hope it's not anything major.

Yes, everything is grounded.

Are you running through a power strip? If so, try a different one and try a different outlet. Never hurts to try everything before you start dragging the amp around for repairs.

Where did you buy it and how old is it?

I've used it with different power strips but the sound is still there. I bought new from a retail store, it's one year old, but I have the problem since as far as I can remember.
