First off, My name Rob and I am mew to this forum. I was serious in my bass playing until 6 years ago when my son was born. I mothballed my bass playing for 6 years and now want o get back into it. I am a die hard StingRay fan, and also play a acoustic/electric Fender bass.................on and on........and on......

My question, I want to buy a new bass amp. I was looking at the Fender BassMan 250/210. I like the sound of the 10" speaker over the 15". Is this a good amp? And if not any suggestions. My price rang is $900 to $1200 Canadian.

I have the Bassman 250/210 and love it. If you can find one try it out and see what you think.

I always said my next amp was going to be a tube amp. I have tried this amp many years ago, I think it was the 250/210. It also had a strobe tuner on it. Has anyone ever tried to use a pedal type "tube pre-amp".

You might want to look at a Sansamp Bassdriver. It will give you a whole lot of tube emulationnot as much as an actual tube emulator, and a huge boost of power.

Well I did it. Just bought the 250/210. I got it for $599.99 Canadian. A deal in my books. I know I was looking at amps for $900 to $1200 range but I think I got a deal on a good amp and it leaves room for some goodies.

I was thinking about the Tech 21 VT bass pedal any thoughts on this pealed or should I just get the SansAmp DI?

Thoughts please.

If it's just for home recording probably not. You can go straght into the desk, and most modern digital multitracks have amp simulators and FX built in.

Of course, if you're serious about playing you'll need one. Although, I often play without any amplication in a quite room. I find this very useful.

I'm lokking for a new bass amp, and this is what I have, but don't get it.
RMS B20. It's really quiet, it buzzes like crazy, give horrible feedback, and dies after ten minutes. One time it made my Gretsch Bass' input blow up. :!: :o  :x

I think it should last you a while longer, but I'd start checking ebay or pawn shops for a new one. Fender makes awesome bass amps. The one I have was $99:00 and is great quality. Great sound.

+ Totally agree. I wish they would have kept them around. Great sound to them.

They are still pretty abundant. They only stopped making them a little while ago.
I like 'em so much that I bought a spare on ebay. I use one at our practice site and
use the other for gigging.
