Hello peoples

I've recently been drafted into a three piece punk/blues/rock band as a bass player. I use an old (80's) $@! squier p-bass but up till now i've never needed more than a 10w practice amp cos i just played the thing at home or in the studio direct into a computer so im looking for an amp that i can gig with.

I put a deposit on an ashdown 5-15 yesterday and to be honest all the reviews i've read are complete sh**e and on their home page they say its a practice amp so im hoping this forum can help me

i dont wanna break the bank cos i really cant afford to but im wondering would the 2x10 100w rumble be good enough for small to medium gigs unmiked? or would i be better getting the 100w bassman combo with the 15' speaker? 0r is their little difference besides the price?

I love the Bassman series 2/10 and 1/15. I do like the Acoustic B200 as a good gig amp.

Yea, I had an electronic problem with the B200 bass head... had to swap it out. But the replacement has been good ever since. Quality on the Bassman series is as good as I have seen and better than Ampeg. I had a bad experience with a new Ampeg combo (excessive vibration at 3/4 power). I like the 2 10's combos over a 15, but maybe because I play a P Bass. I run a 4*10 cab with the American Standard Pbass and like it better than a 1 15 cab

I would be curious to see opinions. If you had to use only one combo. Do 2 10's compliment a P a little better than a J bass?? I owned an Am St J bass and liked it better than the P through the 1 15 Ampeg combo. But using 10's I loved the P bass over the Jazz bass.

Bassman 250 is a GREAT amplifier. Unfortunately, I needed a little more power than it could deliver and had to upgrade to the 400.

Im definately digging the TV duo ten Bassman...MSRP is the same as the TV fifteen too. Intersting as the Bassman series runs a little more if your going with 2 10's over the 1 15. If I get a TV series at least the choice is easy.

i would love to get a bassman tv but i already own a number of tube amps and really cant afford another so ill be sticking with SS this time. the 1x12 150 watt fender bassman seems to be the most affordable and sensible purchase in my mind.

i played a gig with crate 100 watt thingy and it did fine (granted the sound wasnt that amazing or anything) but the power was fine im in a three piece so i dont have to be playing that loud all the time. so ill be going into the shop with this amp in mind during the week

thanks for all the advice folks its was very helpful
