General discussion: What is the best bass amp under, say, 100 watts? I need an amp for home use...doesn't need to be too loud, but I want one that I'm not going to want to trade in within 6 months of use.
Let the discussion begin....

Bro , fender has several i would pick 30 watts or above that should be enough power so that your band mates can hear you on a small to medium stage i drum teched for majesty tonight at goose island brewing company on clark in wrigleyville good size room smaller stage the bass player brought his 1x15 wedge that he uses in the studio and the sound guy mic'd him and it sounded fine , the two bands on before them both brought marshall half stacks and majesty bass player sounded better than both of those guys (majesty fender precision bass an old one with brass bridge and an adjustable brass nut sings like a steinway baby grand) have fun choosing !

Thanks SBLS. I was thinking in the size range of 30 to 60 watts. I'm new to the realm of basses so I wanted to get some opinions here.

I ended up going with a Acoustic B100 amp. It sounds pretty good so far, but I have 30 days to continue my test drive. If I don't like it, I'll just return it for something else.

I use a Phil Jones Briefcase for practice. Goes like stink when you want it to and can keep a reasonable volume.

Thanks bro. I'm liking this amp so far. I have only played it loud once for about 20 minutes, but playing low (at room volume) it sounds great!

Yeah those Acoustic amps sound pretty good for the money. They are pretty heavy though. I don't know if they are particle board or plywood but I'm suspecting particle board because of the heft.

It is pretty heavy. I figured that all bass amps with 15" speakers in them probably weight about the same amount though. I don't gig or anything yet, so I haven't had a need to move it much. Just around the house really. All in all a nice amp that I'm happy with (for now).
